This Week on the Breadboard: EHX Germanium OD

It's also important to remember the value tolerance. Just because the values on the package sum to 3.9uF doesn't mean that's the actual value. It could be 3.5uF or 4.2uF.

This Week on the Breadboard: EHX Germanium OD

Yes, it will pop. But... to me, it would be probably "set and don't switch until necessary" switch. I would rather not switch it while playing (especially since it's a toggle switch). But, that's me.

This week on the Breadboard: The Vivie Minerva (Wise Sheep)

Yeah, I know.. but it's a bit easier to have a neat signal path/layout this way. :)

This Week on the Breadboard: The VHT Deliverance Preamp Emulator

I've never tested the difference with and without a diode. Looking at the Ltspice simulation, the diode makes the waveform visually similar to that of a cathode follower. Here's an example – the top waveform is a 12ax7 before and after the cathode follower. The bottom waveform is the anode and...

This Week on the Breadboard: The LPD Sixty8 (with some mods)

I like the simplicity of the 4-knobber. Bass - for me, no more than 10 o'clock, but I think I prefer it at zero. Treble - to the max. I breadboarded CDB version, but for now I'm sticking with the original (which I did quickly in 0805).

This Week on the Breadboard: Phase 90

Sigh... it works, but I made such a embarrassing mistake. I fired it up and found there was no phasing at the output. The LFO is working, and the voltages look fine. I poked around with an audio probe, and everything seemed fine, but the modulated signal wasn't reaching Q5. There was a signal at...

    Jump Drive schematic?

It'll probably be quicker and easier if you trace it yourself :). But keep trying, maybe Robert will finally show mercy. :)

Tyco Brahe Ocavia Diode Lift Mod

There's no connection to GND. Just insert switch between diode and transformer (or diode and pin 3 of the potentiometer).

Tyco Brahe Ocavia Diode Lift Mod

Only one diode. With the switch open there's only fuzz, no octave.

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

It's when you set the Tone knob at noon ;) But it's also a printing technique that simulates grafients, continuous colors/shades of gray with small dots (of various sizes).

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I think I'd run the trace from the 1N5817 to the 100u and run all the supply traces from the capacitor. Something like this (red is an alternative route)

    Biasing JFets for Chop Shop

I don't remember what voltage I set. Test it in the 4-6.5V range, see how the sound character changes, and choose the setting that suits you best.

    Biasing JFets for Chop Shop

Measure the voltage on pin 1 (marked in red). It should be the same as on pin 3 (marked in green). Full CCW means minimum voltage (max sag). Bias should be set as if there was no SAG potentiometer at all (full CW).
