Wrecking Ball help - loud hum

I think the best option is to buy a power supply from the C2CE shop now that there are power supplies available. I am going to buy several power supplies with my next PCB order so I can have a power supply available every time someone borrows a Sushi or C2CE pedal from me. I think for $13 each...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I think what the new switches on that Nobelium that is for sale do is connect the 1/4" input directly to the 1/4" output, also the XLR transformer is connected directly to the 1/4" input socket. It is a way of bypassing all the electronics in the pedal itself, if you loose power to the pedal you...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

The most common way to bypass a fender tone stack is to lift the ground leg on the MID pot, the Nobelium has a resistor instead of a MID pot so just disconnect R21 2k7 ohm resistor and that should work. You could also replace R21 with a pot to make a MID pot if you want to experiment more with...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I just noticed that it looks like the 1/4" output seems wired in reverse, the signal is wired to the shield ring and the ground is wired to the tip on the socket. If the 1/4" out works the socket must be insulated from the box by the powder coating only, it would be best if the wires were...

Sound samples for bassdude and particle accelerator?

The original Bassman that the Bass Dude is based on had two 12AY7 tubes in it, I have been thinking of trying some 12AY7's in my Bass Dude as well. It sounds great with the 12AY7 and the high speck 12AX7 tube you used in yours, I might try that as well now. Now I have to get myself some 7025...

    Nobelium Artwork files please ?

Mr Sushi I notice that the Nobelium pedal that has popped up in the C2CE shop has a mod for the 1/4" and XLR outputs to have a Bypass / Preamp selector switch, I was wondering if this could be added to the Drill files and Artwork files for the Nobelium. It would be best as a separate modded...

I think I saw 2 different schematic that used all 6 triodes, I think the 6505 had all 6 in one channel but there was another version where there were 5 used for the drive channel and one was used for the clean channel. The clean channel used the first and last 2 triode of the drive channel if I...

From what I have read today they are all closely related along with the SLO 100, Van Halen used the SLO 100 which is what Peavey used to make their 5150 (Named after Van Halens 5150 Studio), when Van Halen left Peavey they renamed the 5150 the 6505. I would use the circuit that uses all 6...

Ok, I'll show my ignorance and say I doubt it would be a Marshall 5150 since that's a solid state amp, that leaves my limited knowledge with a Fender 5150 and an EVH 5150 and a Peavey 5150 . There could be more but that is it for me at the moment. What 5150 are we looking at here ?

    The MOD Squad

I haven't tried it yet myself but when I do it will be on a new PCB, I just wanted to point out the possibilities that exists with the PCB. If you do build one please post some pics of your build and let us know what you think. Cheers Mick

I don't know if you would need the pentode in the circuit, the 200S had a 6AN8 pentode/triode combination tube after the tonestack but we would not need the triode part of the 6AN8 for a preamp pedal. Just have to find a good replacement tube for the pentode. f you don't need the pentode then it...

That looks like a nice and easy mod, I thought you would like the switching with the DPDT on-on-on switch since it just makes more sense. (Thanks Passinwind for that idea) Did you work out the capacitance with C2 in series with the voicing caps ? I think that C2 will affect the value of the wet...

It sounds like you got it working really good Samuel, is there any reason to have C2 so high ? I would have thought a cap to filter anything below 30Hz would be ok since a 5 string is needed to go that low, what value would you need for C2 to equal 30Hz or even 40Hz ? Also, could you draw up...

I would love to see a SUNN model T preamp, wait....maybe a Marshall Plexi 59, or a Marshall JCM45, or a Fender 5F8-A Twin Amp.......... Hmmmm.....they are basically the same circuit but with different component values. Perhaps one PCB with several BOM's depending on which amp you want to build...

    King Nothing Pedal

The insulation type and thickness is the only thing that matters for the voltage, for current (amps) it is the thickness of the copper that matters. For best practice I would go with better then 24 AWG for any pedal with tubes in it, but 20AWG might be too hard to get in the hole on the PCB...

    Nobelium Gain-Control

I am also interested in this question, the Nobelium was designed to be a DI pedal first and foremost so the idea is that it should convert the unbalanced 1/4" signal to a balanced XLR signal as cleanly as possible. I think that a separate pedal is best for some drive or distortion. Which output...

I think that reverb might get too muddy at very low frequencies (from what I have read), it will be interesting to see what you come up with.

Lately there has been some people wishing that the Space Heater would become available again at Sushi Box FX, the Space Heater is apparently just a Particle Accelerator without a tone stack. You still need a 100nF 630V capacitor between V1 output and the Gain pot, and I imagine the output will...

    King Nothing Pedal

I use 0.5mm2 wire which is close to 20 AWG for all wiring and that is plenty big enough, 22 AWG is also good to use. 24 AWG is fine for powering 1 tube pedals and it should be ok for a 2 tube pedal since it is just a very short run. If you are building a pedal with 3 or 4 tubes I would be using...

    The MOD Squad

The resistors can be standard 1/4w resistors, they are not really needed but they help to bring up the voltage across the un-used caps so when you switch them in there is less chance of a pop noise. They will charge the caps slowly so not much current goes through them so 1/4watt will be fine...
