    NAMM 2024

I'll check in with some of his booth slaves and endorsers too, usually those guys bring in some of their personal ones too. The last time I went he had basses in four or five other booths and we had some very cool stuff from a few of those booths in Marco World, so it was a win all the way...

I can probably still hook you up with a bass or two if needed, I'll remind Marco the next time I get over to his shop. A lot of the people I would normally be trying to sell stuff to aren't going this year, but I think that could be great for guys like you and Marco actually.

    NAMM 2024

Have a great show! My trip is on hold for now, just too many other expenses and priorities in play at the moment. But I went on like three days notice one time, so anything is possible.

The heck is going on inside Jam Pedals Eureka?

If you de-gooped him I'll bet he'd look more familiar.

    Understanding Potentiometers

In the voltage divider scenario a value change can still affect bass or treble rolloff, or broadband level, depending on source and load impedances. If you're ever experimented with 250K vs 500K pots in a guitar you may have experienced that, for instance. And then there's pot taper. Not...

    Missing Build Docs / Schematics

Yep. In my first order from you I went for two designs, one with documentation and one without. The one without looked really simple and I was able to trace and model it in a couple of hours, tops. I wouldn't even think about doing that with an FV-1 based board or the like though. My expectation...

Tube screamer types w/ Four or more knobs

Any progress or further thoughts on this? I'm getting ready to box up my Crystal Lattice Silver build, which I'm pretty likely to be giving away to a guy who mainly wants it for the graphics I worked up.

    Understanding Potentiometers

It's entirely circuit dependent. Used in the feedback loop of a simple opamp gain stage it might redefine max/min gain available, with higher value = higher gain, used in series on the input it might work completely backwards to that.

KiCAD Workflow Question (from Diptrace user)

I prefer to take the pain during the initial schematic drawing. Going back later and updating footprints is really annoying to me. So if I have a few 3.5mm x 7.2mm box caps I typically copy and paste off the first one entered on the schematic rather than re-selecting from my library. I'm really...

How can I fix a sticky potemtiometer?

I'll take one or two apart and see, I have plenty of duff ones. ;) But if it's mung on the track, I'd expect that to manifest with noise as well. In any case, nothing against Tayda, I think they fulfill a very useful purpose and the shipping thing would seem to be out of their control.

How can I fix a sticky potemtiometer?

I was referring to ruining the resistive track. I just avoid Tayda as much as possible, frankly. Especially since the shipping rate hikes.

How can I fix a sticky potemtiometer?

Replacement is the best fix, hands down. I like low torque pots for a lot of situations a lot myself BTW. But as I said, a stiffer feel is often considered premium and is what many people prefer. The SBP pots feel really good to me compared to many other cheapies, FWIW.

How can I fix a sticky potemtiometer?

Yeah, they are a little better now IMO.

How can I fix a sticky potemtiometer?

Nope, assuming they're new pots the sticky feel is considered a premium feature and some of us pay extra for it when ordering custom pots. It's damping compound on the shaft, not the resistive track. Removing it by chemical flushing often tends to leave residue on the track and ruin the pot. The...

    Multimeter has dropped continuity testing?

John Fluke is or was a real deWd, at least. Even people at the company went with "if it works it's a Fluke", according to my former GF who worked there for a time.

Monoprice Stage Right 15W amp rebuild

You can hack the ends off your IECs and put on a Powercon, just sayin. I threatened to buy a Greenlee IEC punch for eons, but somehow it never made the top of my shopping list!

Monoprice Stage Right 15W amp rebuild

I just use a Powercon for retrofits, so much easier and arguably a much better connector to boot. My nibble tool-fu is strong when it needs to be though!
