    Bass with Onboard Nobellium

If you don't intend on having a 1/4" output then half of the nobelium circuit is not needed and you only need one tube as well as far as I know, I say as far as I know in case I say the wrong thing but I feel 99.99% sure I am correct there. Nathan please jump on me in case I screwed up again...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

The HPF switch is switching the capacitor in and out which is why I used an ON-OFF-ON switch for the HPF to make it a 2 frequency HPF. If you want to change R18 then I would place a 250k pot in series with R18 to make it a variable HPF, I have never tried this but I guess it should work. If you...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I don't think that the fascia panel is made of plastic,at least they didn't use to be. The slots are not really needed for ventilation, they are there to show off the tubes as far as I know. I order my boxes from Tayda since they will machine all the slots and holes and then paint the enclosure...

    Back In Stock Updates

The Nobelium is the perfect pedal for Bass at church since they usually use a PA system, many of the other C2CE pedals are also a preamp pedal so just pick one that you want to try. There is no DIY compressor PCB at C2CE but Sushi Box has the "Single Slice Compressor" pedal which I like and...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

If you have a faceplate you can mark the slots on the box and then just cut a larger square hole in the box, the faceplate will cover the hole and you will only see the slots in the faceplate. You can always use your own slide switch for the ground lift if you want, or just carefully file the...

    Which preamp?

I presume you are playing a guitar and not a bass, I think the Wrecking Ball would be close to what you are looking for if you want breakup, it is based on the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier after all. I found that the Bassdude had some nice breakup as well, it is based on the Fender Bassman but...

    first bassdude build

I always use a switch when there is a bright capacitor, I solder 2 wires into the capacitor holes on the PCB and bring them up to the center contacts on a DPDT switch and then I place the capacitor on the top 2 contacts on the switch. It makes it a lot easier to change the capacitor as well if...

    REQUEST PedalPCB standard templates

The drill files are at the top of all the pre-drilled boxes, you just have to be logged in to Tayda drill files, and the boxes are still available. https://www.taydaelectronics.com/hardware-tools/enclosures/drilled-enclosures-for-pedalpcb.html?product_list_limit=all

    sushi box grand slampegg

What if you have more then one HPF in the circuit ? Will they then steepen the curve ? The XLR pot and the Volume pot in parallel gives us a resistance of 167415.43 ohms, with C7 being 100nF it would give us a HPF of 9.5Hz With C7 being 22nF we would have a HPF of 43Hz With C7 being 33nF we...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

I have started to put the SMD footprint inside the through hole footprint on some of my PCB's, that way I can choose TH or SMD components, just imagine how little space a surface mount IC would use. I haven't tried soldering an OP-amp in SOIC-8 format yet but I have that option on some of my...

What if you solder the IC directly to the PCB, no IC socket ??

Steddi, Go! - simple tube D.I.

I would change C2 to change HPF, the lower C2 is the less Bass is going to get through. For Bass guitar I might change it to 10uF or even 4u7 to loose the muddy bit from the bottom end, I think it is best done by trail and error and what your ears tell you. You can also do it with C1 but I am...

    The MOD Squad

I like that little tune in the clip, did you download it or make it ? If you downloaded it do you remember where and what it is called ? That beat has really grown on me to the point where I might have to get a looper just to test pedals with, my arthritic fingers have not improved my atrocious...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

My traces are playing up too since I updated Kicad last time, there must be a bug in the new version.

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

I think I worked out why it let you run traces through the mounting pads, in your schematic the pots don't have the mounting pad showing so you have not been able to attach the mounting pads to the ground plane. I think there is a symbol for the pots with mounting pads in the schematic editor...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

You should be able to cut those traces with a sharp blade and then just run a small wire linking R14 to R15, not a big problem for one of your first boards. I think I have done a lot worse over the years, I keep forgetting to let KiCad run an error check sometimes and I miss some of those things...

    Bassdude V1 cathode resistor question

I think that since you are only connecting one triode you should really use a 1K6 resistor and a 120uF capacitor, that way the voltage drop across the resistor stays the same as the original. I also doubt you would notice any difference whichever way you do it, if you really want to be correct...

Bassdude mods and pulldown resistor question

What exactly do you mean by "pull down resistors" ? If it is to reduce any pops when changing the switches then I think the best way is to pre-charge all the un-used caps to the same voltage they they will be charged up to when in circuit, I usually do this on high voltage caps with a high value...

Bassdude mods and pulldown resistor question

I take it you want the Bassdude to play guitar on, I usually adapt the circuits to suit a Bass guitar more but there are some mods described in "The Mod Squad" thread I started. The mods you describe all sound ok to me if you want to make the sound brighter with less bottom end, I believe I...
