"Close Enough" Sub For Germanium Diodes

First is to find a cheap diode with yhe same cinducting treshold, then add a small value resistor to matvh the UlI/V curve. Have a look at this graph https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bkDhEYTse7-YpS7rNzBXZqA7x2Zfj5lS/view?usp=drivesdk Or this thread to see how they all compare...

Overdrives that utilize opamp clipping (no diodes)

Hex inverters but Craig Anderton's tube sound fuzz or red Llama can be nasty

In Search Of… (post the obscure parts you need help finding)

I just contacted them at "detali at zahidprylad dot com dot ua" and they gave me a fair quote, I paid about 1$ for each. See how it compares to what you can find on ebay, giving that these KT3102E were sold out everywhere else I went for it. Supply and demand 🙃

Yup, here it is https://zapadpribor.com/ They are located in Ukraine, it took about a month to get to Switzerland, but shipped within 24 hours

Diode comparison Yup, close enough, you got the I/V curve of loads of diodes here

I was actually looking for these КТ3102E I always been fond of, ran out a few years back and sellers on eBay are asking for an amount I'm not ready to pay for.. I ended up getting in touch with Yuriy from zahidprylad and he was able to find a thousands in their warehouse, just received enough...

What do you all usually buy from Digikey?

I get my PCB from JLCPCB as well, never tries the assembly service, good to hear feedback on these 🙌

What do you all usually buy from Digikey?

I always stock up on Stackpole Electronics Inc resistors, they have 1/8 watt 1% resistors that are very affordable (I think about one cent a unit) and 3.3mmx1.8mm which allows me to fit most builds in smaller enclosures. I always add Wima caps and random diodes until I reach the threshold for...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Chubby Sammich

How does it sound? got any audio to share? thought the tone stack of the FS reduced the voltage by 40dB or so, is it not too loud when hitting U2 in your configuration? oh and what is R40 for? great work, I will definitely breadboard someday soon!

    The Fat Sandwich

heya, here are the AC sweeps for different settings of the potentiometers; using your tracing up here, AC sweeps, V, I and waveforms are the same when C10, C11, R8 and C15 are jumped. same for when C12, R10, D2, D3 and D5 are omitted. Very slight difference in the high end when C8 is jumped (C12...

Measured odd and common diodes IV curves

thanks! I will add these to the plot, I'm off for two weeks but will get back to it when I come home. I updated the plotly so it shows a slider like in yours, love that thing! Diodes_Avg_Plotly.html I also added a drop down for filtering for a selected type/material of diode :

Measured odd and common diodes IV curves

I figured it out, I updated the HTML and excel master file 🥳 The DB9, are they the russian D9B? Curve is super similar to D9E! Do you know the make/manufacturer of the 1N60 and 1N34A? cuz I have some in there already and trying to avoid duplicates, feel free to review and let me know what you...

awesome! it will be in the master in the evening! thanks for that!

not sure you can run the plot on an iPad, but here it is: Diodes_Avg_Plotly.html

Measured odd and common diodes IV curves

I am trying to gather data on diodes, I use a peak atlas pro to measure these, if anyone wants to add, please reach out! here is the interactive plot, double click to filter for a specific diode, simple click to filter out, zoom, span, etc. you can look for specific diodes with Ctrl+F.
