    What's your current headache?

Luckily not even half-baked! Yesterday put lid back and tested it. Heating works fine now and magnetron sound level was reduced which made noisy and dry fan bearings more audible. Guess there was a bug with microcontroller and relay on preventing overheating with reduced power. I’ll just lube...

    Rosin Allergy?

Use these For real I’d look also into combined exposure. I’ve understood current view on allergies have to do with exposures stacking up and exceeding thresold with symptom occure. F.ex. food allergy mechanism can be triggered by proteins resembling enough the one you’re allergic to and could...

    106NU70 Germanium Transistor Equivalent

10k is a trimmer wired as variable resistor for biasing. Last transistor is a darlington one with 20k hFE. Cap before it was changed to 680n one, ’cos that was closest value I had at hand back then. And it lead me to use darlington transistor also, other Si ones didn’t work with 680n cap. I’d...

    106NU70 Germanium Transistor Equivalent

I’ve liked this and it has kept place as my main pedal since building it. ASYs I used have really low leakage & hFE range from 45-70.

Your best and worst pedal hot takes? 🔥

Nothing new under the sun for me. 😌 Btw I found lightly build and dirty cheap Mr.Power branded 9vdc supply was quieter with some pedals than the usual OneSpot. I’ve been using this one for a while: https://www.vitoos.com/?post_type=products&page_id=27871/ What I’ve gathered Vitoos is...

Your best and worst pedal hot takes? 🔥

But what’s acceptable? Not trying to criticize, this is also a self-reminder as I usually try to minimize excessive noise. -pickups hum and hiss -amps have background hiss -raising and stacking gain brings hiss -more volume brings more noise -wall ac/earth can be dirty -pedal circuits can be...

    What's your current headache?

Microwave oven didn’t heat things anymore as meant. Asked silently why not? There’s no reason for not taking a peek. Went taking the cord off from wall and after opening chassis check the main cap with DMM to make sure it’s safe to touch. Do more basic tests with DMM and bingo. Found out a 12kV...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Tried it and it turned bit too dark and on heel almost down position was on edge of oscillation. Adjusting pot centering treadle steps more towards toes down position helped, but not enough. Gonna change Q1e resistor 270r to 330r and try your suggestions if I find some time before rehearsal...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Crybaby tweaking on the bench. input cap 10nF->22nF range cap 15nF->33nF ”vocal” resistor 47k->62k Q1 mpsa18 800hfe->old silicon 210hfe Q1 emitter resistor 390r->270r Maybe it’ll do with drop A#? Didn’t try it yet, gonna test it later today.

Real world lever toggle switch durability

For me the difference between the cheapest and a midpriced electromech part isn’t about how well it’s constructed, but what’s the quality of finishing. Price relates to QC. Cheapest parts I’ve gotten needed lug hole cleaning and scraping to get wire through, but on top of that there’s problems...

    Simms-Watts AP100 mkII 1972

In most recent build even the tone stacks silver micas got replaced with polys. There nothing ceramic there apart tube sockets and resistor shells!

    Simms-Watts AP100 mkII 1972

This was original circuit and it was audible enough. After rebuilds I’d say it’s slightly audible. So from my perspective it doesn’t bother anymore.

    I never thought of this… lead exposure…

Suppose Banzaimusic has solders to choose from? I think it’s more of you’re not able to buy lead containing solder unless you have a trade/business name. Haven’t really looked really into it, but I wouldn’t say it’s illegal to use. Using lead solder is all legal for repairing and assembling...

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

You’ll love this question. Is there a looper pedal which does repeat recorded phrase as you’re really playing it? And I mean WITHOUT THE LOSS IN AUDIO QUALITY and the tonezz? Have tried Zoom multieffect pedals looping and mates Boss RC-20. Those suck. And I’m not really keen on spending...
