Transistor: proper continuity / fails hFE test

Dunno if this helps, but while ago I cooked couple Ge transistor exceeding their max current limit with trimpot on FF circuit and after that my cheap component tester read cooked transistors as shorted/faulty component. Cannot recall if it was E or C tied to B, but nevertheless that gave a diode...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Tomorrow I’ll blast my tube amp and that’s the real test, but todays quick try with Peavey Vypyr 15W Bassman emulation through 12” speaker was all fine and low noise level was a nice surprise. So far apart how hissy all my past Muff builds have been. I hadn’t done pcb builds for a while, so...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Musket with Si Mtj00109 & Ge Asy-29. Played dice with germs and just soldered everything in with stock resistor values. :D Before testplay checked voltages and got the relief. Least noisy muff I’ve played thanks to signal threshold gating these ASYs do. Thanks to @Fama about PCB!

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Last week messed with the guitar which get’s played most. This 80s Aria got more things done on pickups. Put one half of an excess ceramic humbucker as dummy coil under hb sized P90. Flipped neck HB. Added new wiring and overly complicated star grounding just for an experiment. And ended up...

    Vacuum Tubes

Some E83CCs and couple 5751s bought within last two years. Haven’t really looked into manufacturing time, but there’s always a chance they date earlier.

    Vacuum Tubes

Couple months ago I bought NOS Telefunken 12AT7 from my local shop with ~20 coins and I know they’re reliable and test their tubes. Still it wasn’t good and had terrible microphonics. Got money back and they let me too keep the tube. Haven’t had guts to test it again, but maybe some day it find...

    Vacuum Tubes

I have three leftovers of a quad. The fourth one gave up and made a good flash. Willing to trade those for some NOS ecc83 goods. Maybe we first need to wait this import/export toll thing figure itself out?

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

How to fix too trebly hb sized P90. Symptom was choking notes on highest notes, but this tiny parallel resistor halving pot value solved it!

Keeley Psi Fuzz (PedalPCB Kinetic Fuzz)

IMO Ionosphere sucked, is this more worth building? If it is, I’ll verify your layout within couple weeks.

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Gonna trace a schematic about drive and recover circuits, but I already did eyballing and compared the circuit to other transistor drive circuits from the same era. The reverb didn’t work on the e-organ so I’m really starting to think there’s assembly/manufacturing error within reverb. There’s...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Cracked spring unit open and it’s infected with some PNP germs. AC180 and SFT353. Japan stamped on metal is only identification. How does this even work? Two leads go in and two out, then what? :D
