    L78L09 Question

Not required if the supply is 9v also not recommended if it's supplied with 9v since these regulators need a min of a few volts headroom to work correctly.

    What amp should I build?

Zero hum - I was a bit worried with all the xfmers and choke close together but they are all oriented 90 deg. Dont know if that really helped or didnt matter - the electrical power is pretty low so I suspect very little chance of coupling unless you're right not top of each other transformer wise.

    What amp should I build?

I packed mine in a home-made box about 7x5x2 - zero noise in mine from any transformer coupling. I did add a choke in the power supply stage to minimize any hum issues.

Can I use an arduino mini to make a simple midi controller?

Old thread but I'll weigh in You can definitely do it with a Arduino nano. I had a pcb design and tested the nano for all the functions: controllers (cc), program changes, on/off, switch values. I think 8 continuous controllers and 8? switches. All laid out to fit in a 1590B box. Then I...

    source for 1/8 resistors?

THANKS! Didn't think about the 1/4 small size. These would work fine

    source for 1/8 resistors?

thanks for the offer - but I'll probably just buy a bunch of the 220 ohms (and stock up) from Tayda - they have the jacks I need so it doesn't hurt as much for shipping. Its for a 5 channel "MIDI THRU" buffer and the "normal" resistors take up too much real-estate! I know there are boxes out...

    source for 1/8 resistors?

yeah thats what I see. I tend to avoid the 1/8 but have a project where it REALLY makes things much easier for packaging.

    source for 1/8 resistors?

Anyone know where to get 1/8 resistors? Thru hole not SMT. Seems to be not a common part at mouser etc. Tayda was my go-to but Im not paying $20 for $1 of resistors. I know, I should have stocked up....

pcb fabrication services "tariffs" - ?

that's in the USA? Cant be cheap... how much for a 2.25"x3.25" two sided board?

pcb fabrication services "tariffs" - ?

"on pcbs" but not shipping? the actual pcb price is a few bucks so even 30% isnt that much.

pcb fabrication services "tariffs" - ?

So I know Tayda upped their shipping and eliminated the super nice cheap shipping, probably due to the tariff issues to fold the cost into shipping? Anyway... What about all the PCB services? I haven't bought any in a long while but have a few projects. Is it the same now and/or how are they...

    Real Spring Fet Reverb (Surfybear)

Right - it wont take any file with ZIP extension so I renamed the xxx.zip to xxx.zip.txt. Just rename to xxx.zip

    Real Spring Fet Reverb (Surfybear)

hey - sorry just say this, been away. Just download and get rid of the .txt (these are zipped files). the first one is messed up on the pcb (which I have some if you want - they can be fixed) and the version 2 is the "fixed" that I never got around to ordering etc.

Mini Rotary Switch (1P8T) - adjustable stops?

anybody have any opinions on the "quality" of these? Feel ok or wobbly? Dose the 8 position stop at 8 or keep rotating? (ie no stop)

Mini Rotary Switch (1P8T) - adjustable stops?

yeah those are obscenely expensive (I have a few from some projects). especially since I'm not using it for audio but more for midi controller setting and dont need super clean signal fidelity.

Mini Rotary Switch (1P8T) - adjustable stops?

Thanks - didn't think so. Whether it could be "hacked" I'm not sure. Does there seem to be any way to open it up w/o destroying it?

Mini Rotary Switch (1P8T) - adjustable stops?

Anyone know if the pedalpcb Mini Rotary Switch (1P8T) (Alpha RS1611 series) switch allows you to adjust the 'stops' - ie limit it to something less than 8 positions? I know a lot of switches do but not sure about these. Cannot find anything specific about it anywhere. I think the larder...

8" vs 4" Speakers for practice amp

I just went thru this last year - I have a THR10 but while it's good I never really bonded with the sound. I found an old PEAVEY Blazer (Rage with a small reverb) that had an 8" speaker and it is AWESOME for low volume practice. Something about the low vol and the 8" is really nice. NOT as...

Current Tayda fees after new tariff?

yeah still only expensive shipping options - would definitely be ordering more stuff if it went back to the old rates. not that tayda part costs are not GREAT - but I hate paying $20-$30 US for shipping a few parts.

    source for knobs WITHOUT indicator?

yeah I actually found the Strymon knobs and they're pretty close to perfect - not sure of the exact diameters (Im looking for about 15mm) since I dont own anything from them. But yeah, expensive. Not as bad as Mouser, DigiKey, Newark - which dont have much either.
