I solder transistors that are not prone to swapping i.e BJTs but NOT FETs.
I've soldered and desoldered beltons multiple times over without issue. They are fairly robust due to size and lead length.

Any recommendations for SMD mosfets for analog signal switching?
My understanding is that larger threshold voltages are preferred for more swing without risk of inadvertantly toggling states. Is this correct?

Electrosmash has breakdowns of the big pedals: rat, tubes creamer, ds1, muff. Those are all good.
I would not look into chorus, flange, delay or verb first, those are harder imo
IMO electronics is best understood as functional circuit blocks then transition to the component level.
You should be looking at sallen key filters and non-inverting gain stages...then build out.
You should see circuits as a signal chain, this fet is configured as a common source amplifier...

I use BODE plots all the time. It's great for confirming designs and seeing tolerance (when it's bad). I also find it useful for measuring other pedals.

The port acts like a speaker made of air that then resonates at X frequency. The port increases system volume above resonance but subtracts below resonance.
Open back cabs follow the low end roll off of the driver albeit with rear wave cancellation.
Closed back cabs move the speaker resonance...
Cone throw is the main enemy of low end reproduction. Required excursion quadruples per octave down.
The larger diameter drivers displace more air per excursion and so get more bass for their throw. They also have on average higher cone mass so lower resonant frequency.

Smaller speakers tend to have extended highs and maintain treble off-axis compared to larger diameter speakers.
Bigger speakers tend to be louder per Watt input than smaller ones.
These are not hard rules. Speaker design is a game of compromises and speakers can be made to have lots of bass...
Built a pedal around Electric Druid's STOMPLFO only to check website and see that they are not shipping to the states due to tariffs.

To add a caveat though, the size of the bypass caps dictates how "ideal" of an AC GND the rails and midpoints are. I've seen some filters be off spec because the midpoint was not low enough of an AC resistance to actual GND.
There is no difference in circuit performance however from a layout perspective, ground will be tapped via a plane whereas vref would need a dedicated trace. Sometimes on 4 layer, one lay will be tied to vref but as far as I know, not common.
