Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

She is. I’ve got her moogerfooger mf101 clone - which is excellent - and the first batch had a bug with the dreaded led switching noise bleeding into audio (which I’ve had a lot with diy pedals) - chatted to her a fair bit firstly saying there was this bug and then gently suggesting if she told...

    What's on the workbench?

A logical response to the tariffs on anything from JLCPCB?

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

If I ever started a pedal company I would make two versions of my pedals - a normal version and a special version, with extra bits all the epoxy and spray paint. Maybe concrete too depending on its insulating properties. Anyone called Robert woild get that version

If you were going to build a compact Bass pedalboard?

To use an example using two Japanese traditions … Bass players tend to approach a pedalboard like bonsai - trying things, thinking deeply and at each stage asking “can I cut this back, can I simplify” leading to restrained thought through minimal pedalboards. Guitar players however are more...

If you were going to build a compact Bass pedalboard?

With added shoutout to PedalPCB frequency interchange pedal - that’s nice (but again at our church it’s all iem and ampless so you don’t need it!

If you were going to build a compact Bass pedalboard?

Some kind of tech 21 bass fly rig pedal would probably be a good solution? Tuner > Oc2/octamiser > drive of some kind (tonehammer or whatever your denomination prefers) > tc spectracomp > nobelium For bass it’s different to guitar effects - it’s less obvious what’s good from bad…. it really is...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I'm musing more than commenting on your board... but would the ideal be to have something like this, but with a latching relay switching on it, and then the foot switch is wired off the I/O board and the effect is on its own board.

    💖 Stay Alive ✨ Top Five of '25 💖

no secret sauce other than trying PCB assembly for the first time (it could have all gone wrong) I didn't have enough confidence to make the 3 film caps and 6 electro caps SMD... maybe next time!

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

So an extra 10% tarrifs because us over here have this wild idea that you can’t just invade places and take other peoples land. So I guess we protect ourselves with tarriffs going the other way … So if I want any PPCB boards I should order them now before it gets too crazy. I grew up being...

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

I’ve vectorised halftone stuff on illustrator, I can’t remember but there’s maybe even a filter to do it - takes a bit of processor power mind.

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

100% - I went and looked at his stuff and it looked nice, but equally, apart from the blues breaker with the clever name it was "my take on X circuit". I mean if you work it out and the volume savings and margins work with 50 pedals it's not the worst idea - but you've got to have an idea that...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

It's interesting how things have changed... reading really early "here's how this pedal works" stuff, like RG Keens stuff, and it's all quite technical - and you could learn stuff.... and then came the forums where DIY pedal geeks would trace things and get their own Vero/perfboard copies, or...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Out of interest, not living in the us - if you had bought it at guitar centre are you then stuck with it caveat emptor and all that?

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

The whole post reads a little like “I’ve put all this effort in and expect ppl to want to buy my pedals” - I think it’s a bit mad, like I know there’s a whole pedal scene that I’m not in, but in my mind most “boutique hand built” pedals are either completely derivative, or slightly derivative...
