Am I over spec'ing this DPDT switch for my 5F6a power transformer? I am wiring my guitar amp power transformer to handle both 120v and 220v. It has a universal voltage primary to do this. Is this DPDT overkill at 17A 125VAC, 12A 250VAC...

Did you design that? What kind of hot plate you got?

I use my index, thumb and try to get right at the bend point. Bend it slightly past 180 the opposite way, then pinch and slide your fingers out to try and straighten it. Redo until happy.
