Particle Accelerator - Alembic F-2B clone

I apologize, I don't have a specific amp in mind TBH, I was just wondering about how to make this thing as "connectable" as possible. IU'm considering giving it a balanced output so when I read Mike's post I thought that being able to connect it to a SS poweramp without it sounding muddy would...

Particle Accelerator - Alembic F-2B clone

Ok. Would any buffer circuit be ok then? Maybe I could build it on a really small board and add it to my Particle Accelerator...

Particle Accelerator - Alembic F-2B clone

Ok :) So what I'd like to be able to do is to connect my Particle Accelerator to a SS amp without sounding muddy. Since I read Mike's post I was curious to know how he had sorted that problem... that's basically it :)

Particle Accelerator - Alembic F-2B clone

Hey thanks a lot for the links and suggestions :) I'll take a look 😎 Will any of those buffers serve my purpose though? Thanks again 😉

Particle Accelerator - Alembic F-2B clone

Thanks for your suggestion but I'm a bit lost. I apologize for my ignorance. I'm looking for a schematic to build a circuit that does what Mike described, to allow me to connect the Particle Accelerator output into an SS poweramp with a speaker...also I'd like to keep size to a minimum... :)

Particle Accelerator - Alembic F-2B clone

Do you mean using the Aikido as a poweramp like so? Particle Accelerator -> Aikido -> speaker

Could please share what buffer and what class D amp did you use? ;) Cheers Sono

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

I think it works because the Reactor isn't really a poweramp but more like an emulation of how a tube poweramp output behaves and what it adds sonically....

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

No, that's the way I hooked it before (it's the expected logical way). Then I hooked it by mistake guitar -> pedal fx -> reactor -> tube preamp -> speak sim -> soundcard/mixer and it sounds great....

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

You're not going to believe this: I plugged everything again together before hooking up the scope and now everything was fine...I was scratching my head trying to figure out what had changed and then I saw it! I had hooked by mistake the Reactor BEFORE the tube preamp!! Now the tube preamp...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Hi again, I've had to delay this for a while but now I'm back :) Ok, so where would you sugest I place the scope? At the Reactor input for instance to check if the preamp output signal is clipping/overloading the Reactor and eventually adjust the preamp output accordingly? Or maybe one channel...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Wouldn't a reamper use a transformer to "convert" the signal?

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Thanks for the suggestion Einzeln, but I'm not entirely sure I'd need that. The preamp also has a jack output which is supposed to go into a poweramp, so I THINK that's High Impedance. If so, that would match instrument level wouldn't it? If I understand correctly, that reamp device you mention...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Do you mean at the soundcard input? I'm using my SSL 2+ Hi-Z input...and the signal inside Logic looks ok. When I use the preamp without the Reactor there's no problem. I don't think the problem is there but thanks for your input :) I think you're on the right track there, Temol. I have a...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Ok, so it definitely has to do with amplitude :) I tried setting the Reactor Drive control to roughly 18% (so that the pot reads 1k8-2k) and the problem definitely improves A LOT. Then I tried tweaking the preamp master out and gain controls always keeping an eye on the logic input (around...

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Hi again guys, So I finally got some time to breadboard the Bajaman Reactor v5. With the tube preamp this thing sounds really good and the dynamics are very present. I'm just running into a problem: when the Presence control is NOT maxed out, the sound at some point kinda "chokes" or distorts...

I was looking forward to building it really, but thanks for that info 😉

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Johnny thanks a lot for your suggestions. I think that before modding the Astrosim I'm going to try Bajaman's Reactor in between the preamp and the Astrosim and I'll report back. ;)

I guess it's time to che ck it out and breadboard then !! Thanks for all the info Temol :)

Analog Tube Power amp simulator: studying possibilities

Hey, thanks for that. I didn't know that such thing actually existed, and it looks pretty slick!! :) I guess there's no DIY version of that or any similar thing around, right? Cheers
