Capacitor questions - JRB "Blue" Series

I have a question for you experienced parts sourcers ( "sourcerors"? lol Yes, I know the proper spelling :) )
I tend to stick with the Nichion FG (Fine Gold) series or Panasonic CAPS , the ones "suggested" for Audio applications. I know that for the most part that is kind of hoopla, and not REALLY necessary, but I am OCD sometimes about these types of things. I know that mostly what it means is a better QC of the components for the more expensive ones VS. the cheaper components.

With that out of the way, lately I have been drawn to the JRB capacitors from Tayda, the ones that are blue. Full disclosure, packaging sells me on LOTS of crap, just ask my wife! lol But I chose to try these caps out literally because they are blue (which is a similar reason I liked the Nichion FG series, the Gold and Black colors, plus a reputation thing) and they surprised me with how solid they were. I tested them with a few of my various testers, plus my DMM's, and they were all 100% spot on.

So, with that in mind, what are your favorite CAPS / other components? Anyone else use the blue JRB caps like me? Anyone else use certain components based solely off aesthetics first, and quality second? Am I just a weirdo that should stop outing himself for weird behaviors while everyone stops and stares at him? Enquiring minds want to know!

I like the blue JBs too. I like veht's greens a little more because they look less flashy and brand new. I will 100% select components based on how they look given they're all reasonably within spec.

I love the red cbb film caps (not on Tayda, but easy enough to find). Nice balance between "I like how they look" and being cheap. I hate using blue and yellow film caps because they remind me of my first few builds that I completely botched. I wish 1% metal film resistors had the body color of 5% carbons though, I think they look so much better.

I've even dyed some plastic screw terminals black - I wouldn't recommend it, it'll only work well with a specific type of plastic body that I personally had a lot less of in my stash.

I like to pretend caring about it is for the off chance that someone unscrews an enclosure but I'm pretty ok just caring about it for myself too. The whole hobby, and guitar stuff in general, is all about caring about pretty silly things. At the end of the day I think it's nice to have more ways to have fun with all of this and this is definitely a way for me.

All depends on the application.

I like nichicons, mostly because I know how to navigate their series nomenclature.

For power supply, power filtering, I tend to use their high reliability, low impedance stuff. UHE, UPW, UPM, etc.

In the "signal path"...if that's even a thing, I'll use their "premium audio" series. UKW, UFG. UES for bipolar electros.

Honestly...I dunno if it really makes much of a difference. The "audio" caps are more expensive, but most circuits in the pedal realm don't require many of 'em.

Downsides...spend slightly more on components, possibly for no real benefit to the circuit. I dunno, I don't know enough to make that judgement. Upside: going down this rabbit hole means that I'm spending more time analyzing schematics, recognizing patterns, and learning.

That's what I do. I also know just enough to get myself into trouble...so...ya know...
