circuit order AND series/parallel switching

What if I want two independent circuits in a pedal, and I want to be able to switch between series and parallel, but while in series also be able to switch the order. how would I do that? In my head the order switch and the phase switch would interfere and I don't see any way this could work. Has this ever been done before?

Any diagrams or brainstorming would be helpful!

Make a teeny tiny patchbay somewhere on the enclosure with jumper points for pedal in, pedal out, circuit 1 I/O, circuit 2 I/O.
