In search of a reliable source for 1or 2 HT8950 ICs for upcoming Roboto build

Hey all

I tried searching for this in the forums here, but all the posts were a couple years old and possibly outdated.

I have the Roboto PCB waiting in the wings, and I want to get started on it soon.

I'm iffy on buying from China on ebay, both for cost and possibly not getting it/getting a fake (if fakes are even a concern).

Anyone know of a reliable source for the HT8950 IC I need for it?

Or, better yet, do any of you fine people have one or two to spare that I can buy from you directly?

Thanks in advance!

I've studied the Robot (aka; "Bad Robot", "Roboto", etc) circuit and found at its heart is the HT8950 (18-pin) chip. I've scoured the datasheet for this chip and find that there are two variants: the "HT8950" (with 18-pins) and the "HT8950A" (with 16-pins).

Both chips do the same thing except that the 18-pin version has 3 pins that the 16-pin version does not. Those pins are the external toggle "SW0", "SW1" & "SW2" points which are used to support switching combinations for the ROBOT voice; three pitch up variants (x2, x8/5, & x4/3); three pitch down variants (x8/9, x4/5, & x2/3); a "Normal" (unhitched) option; and a "Notes" setting.

eBay has several sellers of these chips - just look for a seller with good reviews and stats.

And for what it's worth, here's a schematic of a modified Roboto circuit . . . .

I have an extra PCB if you want it. Just Msg me.
