Hi all,
after going down some rabbit holes checking out schematics, pcb, videos of the Harlot and this forum I´d like to share my findings to save others some time.
The goal was to get the three sound options of the Harlot: "smooth overdriven/dynamic present/high gain more aggressive".
I was particular about this, because I aim to have the enclosure drilled and painted with an original desing and labels by Tayda, so I´d like to get it right beforehand...
I think this translates to switching R16 (100k) to GND for high gain and R19 (47k) to GND for a high cut (or low pass).
Pos. 1: 100k on, 47k to GND: normal gain/high cut -> smooth overdrive
Pos. 2: 100k on, 47k on: normal gain/ no high cut -> dynamic present
Pos. 3: 100k to GND, 47k on: high gain/no high cut -> more aggressive high gain
The link in the build doc leads to a DPDT On-On-On Type 2 switch. In middle position, 2+3 and 4+5 are connected.
I measured the pcb, compared with the schematic and the switch type 2 -you would get 100k to GND and 47k to GND -> high gain with high cut, "darker high gain".
(Tassiviking posted this here, I think that´s correct: https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/king-nothing-low-volume.22841/post-294999)
So it´s best to use an On-Off-On switch, that´s matching the PCB and the schematic.
New link (instead of the link in the build doc) would be this: https://www.taydaelectronics.com/mini-toggle-switch-1m-series-dpdt-on-off-on-short-lever.html
which is a "1MD3" instead of a "1MD6" in the manufacturers doc.
One thing to keep in mind if you label your enclosures:
If I am getting it right, the switch and mode positions of the King Nothing Kit just change Position 3 and 1.
Labels would be from left to right:
1 high gain (high gain/ni high cut) 2 dynamic present (normal gain / no high cut) 3 smooth overdrive (normal gain / high cut).
If this is correct, it would be helpful to upgrade the build doc with the link to the "correct" switch.
I´d be glad if anybody could confirm or verify this.
Thanks in advance!
