Low and High-Gain Sunflower Builds?

I'm currently stocking up on a bunch of ge transistors to test and use in a couple of Sunflower builds and was wondering if there were guidelines on how to use either low or high-gain transistors (as opposed to using the 70/120 rule of thumb for 'conventional' FFs). I'm looking at some transistors that potentially top out at around 70 hFE and others whose low-end starts at around 100 hFE. I know analogman offers both low and high-gain Sun Face options so wasn't sure if there's guidelines for either option for diy builds. Thanks all!

Install sockets and try different transistors. I've used transistors with much higher and lower HFE with good results. The Sunface's adjustable bias allows the circuit to accommodate a wide HFE range.
