Please help me mod my Lead Solder OD

Hi all,

I built a Lead solder a while ago and after living with it for quite a while I think it sounds a bit muddy and could use brightening up. Other people have used it too and felt similar. Don't know if anyone else has had this experience but I thought maybe I should have a go at modding it but I don't really know what to change. I can follow the instructions well enough and can read a schematic but I don't fully have an understanding of what everything does in the circuit. Though I have been watching Wamplers videos and trying to get there.

Any ideas on what I should change to get a bit more brightness and clarity if this is possible?

By the way I have double and triple checked every component value, everything is as per build docs.

Are you happy with how the pedal "feels" and just want to increase the overall level of brightness? Or do you find the response, on the initial pick attack for example, too muddy and lacking definition? That will determine where in the circuit we need to let more high frequencies through, post or pre distortion.
If you have an EQ pedal, you can try boosting the highs in front and after the pedal, then determine which way gets you more in the ballpark.

Yes it is not just brightness, I just didn't know how to explain it but it is a bit loose and muddy and dark, I tend to have the treble right up, presence right up, bass low and mids low. It seems to be a very mid heavy pedal, which I'm sure the amp is probably too thats why the pedal is like that. If I use it I always run a 10 band eq bring up the highs and lows a little with a gradual scoop around the middle centred on 1Kish

I've built a few and actually did mods to make it sound more like a Soldano SLO 100. I Changed C8 from a 100pF to 220 pF cap, to take out the harsh fizzy high frequencies. I also changed C9 from a 22nF to 18nF to tame he mud.
You may want to recheck your component values, as the one's I built have plenty of brightness on tap.

I run the presence off, treble at 9:00, mid at 1:00, bass at 9:30, gain at 11:30, level at 1:00 and the deep switch off. Normally into input #2 of a Fender Blackpanel amp of some sort (bright switch on).
