Replace a trimmer with a pot

I'M not a noob nor a expert in electronics. I have looked it up but cant find an answer I understand so asking here . I built a Barber tone pump with on board trimmers I'd like to make external I beleive presence bass and mids . I'm sure this is a sumple procedure but dont want to create an unnecessary troubleshooting session I have enough already so if anybody could explain it or post a link I thank you in advance
 
so pull trimmer get pot same value and wire it exactly how the trimmer how do you know what trimmer leg to pot lug it is? I know its only 3 things (lugs) just want to avoid any problems thanks for the help
