ReproFuzz - change gain pot value for more/less saturation?

Hey folks, quick question:
Built the ReproFuzz, really enjoy it. I posted a build thread here if you want to take a look at what I did.

The only thing I'd like to change now is the amount of fuzz or saturation at the low end of the Gain knob. Turned down all the way, it still has a LOT of drive going. By the time the Gain knob gets to half point, it is basically maxed out. So the upper half is not so useful.

Can I change the value of the pot to double, or half, to better control this? Or modify the value by putting a resistor in series, or in parallel?

My mental impression is that I could add a certain sized resistor in series at "3" to decrease gain... if I'm reading it right, at max gain there is the least resistance to whatever signal that is going to C3 then to ground. Right? And as I dial the pot back to lower gain, what I'm doing is increasing resistance to the signal going to C3, and at minimum Gain setting the resistance is about 1K... is that correct?

I circled it in red in the image below. I'm not quite experienced enough to know just by looking - my best approach would be trial and error. So thought I'd ask before I go try desoldering or moving stuff around.

Thanks in advance.
