SMD question: are SOT-23 & SC-59 the same thing?

Putting together some project carts, and there are a few JFETS that I can only find at reasonable prices in SMD versions. Some are listed as SOT-23 package types, and others are SC-59. Some googling suggests these may be essentially two names for the same format. Can anyone confirm, or refute, this?

Trying to figure out if the SOT-23 through-hole adapters will work for all of these.

SC59 seems to be the Japanese (JEITA)code for sot23-3
The standard allows about .1mm larger package in both directions.
Should solder up fine to the adapter boards as there's typically a little wiggle room(way more than .1mm)
