Substituting BC549C/BC559C for 2N5087/2N5088 pair

I am building a second copy of the AionFX Sunstone (EHX Small Stone), and I wanted to know if I will see significant difference in replacing the 2N5087/2N5088s in this circuit with a BC549C/BC559Cs. I know the BC's have to be rotated 180 degrees, but will I notice any appreciable increase in noise with this variation?

This sort of knowledge is beyond my personal experience - I can read a spec sheet, but I don't have enough experience to know when small differences matter.

BC549C/BC559C vs 2N5088/2N5087 respectively...

I would've thought the BC549C would be quieter than the 2N5088, but I haven't read the spec sheet yet — just my hunch based on things I've read, but maybe I'm thinking of the BC109C.

As for the PNP, I'm less familiar with the BC559C vs 2N5087.

I do have a number of all 4 types on hand, should I breadboard it for you or are you just speculating?

Hmm ... I also have 2N5089, which have smidge more gain than the 2N5088 — I wonder how much of a difference they'd make.

Hello,

I had the same question some time ago for Q1 of the Sabbath Distortion. So I made a little transistor switcher with an on-on DPDT. The Collectors are joined in the middle on the stripboard and always connected. The DPDT switches Emitter and Base. It worked fine.

This is a busy circuit to breadboard, I will probably socket the transistors, and then see how this sounds with alternative transistors. I also want to see what LM13600 does to noise in this circuit as well. I need to get in parts before I build this new version (part of the question's motivation - the BC559C is MUCH cheaper)

That's a cool idea, If there is a worthy difference I could make a similar mod to the circuit. I have a straight build of the pedal with the 2N5087, so I can already do A/B comparison once I have #2 worked up.
