Tayda UV Printing & Faceplate questions

I'm trying to get ready to do my first UV Printing order from Tayda. Thanks to all who've posted so much great information here. I'm using Affinity Designer and do have a couple of questions:

1. I believe I've read that if the print is on a white enclosure, the White layer isn't needed. (I've read so many things at this point I don't recall where I saw this.) Is this correct? Do I omit the layer, or leave it empty?

2. I'm not sure I understand the purpose of the .pdf templates that Tayda publishes. Is it just to get the correct artwork dimensions and layer names? (I know that using CYMK is essential, but I opened a .pdf template and it didn't 'set' the doc to CYMK - I still had to do that.) I have a few designs in process, and don't really want to have to somehow use the template if I don't need to.

Also, I want to get a couple of faceplates made. The instructions on Tayda's website are pretty limited, and it seems like you have to contact Tayda to order this order this service. Does anyone know of any more complete instructions anywhere? (I would guess the requirements for UV printing files are the same as for enclosures).

thanks in advance!

For white on white, I think the best thing to do is experiment. Or search the forum for other people’s build reports to see what they have done. I don’t think the white layer costs extra money (?), in which case having it won’t hurt.

As far as the pdf template, I don’t think it’s necessary at all (I haven’t used it the few times I did a UV print).

No idea about faceplates. There are probably better options than Tayda for that, such as @amplifyfun

I do simple faceplates from jlcpcb. Szulaski’s sheeplylove libraries have some templates already in there. Think it comes out to about 5$ shipped for 5 faceplates. I believe you could go for fancier ones from amplify fun as mentioned.
