Three-Transistor Germanium Fuzzrite (2024)

The pedalpcb Toupee Fuzz is a 3 transistor fuzzrite variant, albeit silicon.
And this 3 transistor (also silicon) fuzzrite has been my best seller for years.
Shade is a good last name for him. Dealing with him is a nightmare. And that is coming from someone who champions their Hallmark.
Uggggh I was afraid of that. Thanks for the heads up- sounds like it’s just not worth it. Kind of a shame, as they do sound really good. Hopefully Ed Sanner is getting his fair share…

I messed around with the Tequila Buzz on a breadboard and I really, really like it! I just figured it was essentially a Toupee/Merkin but in comparing the schematics I saw quite a few differences. Guess I’ll have to build both and see! Thanks Betty, you rock!

Ok… A very helpful owner of one of the 2024 3-Ge models made by Ed Sanner posted these for me. Can anyone make sense of what’s going on here? @Robert if anyone can decipher this from two photos it’s you! :)

Looks like the transistors may be MP40a, judging by the previous photos I posted. Gonna see what I can decipher in the recent ones, but I’ll need some help! I’m really just trying to figure out where he put that additional gain stage.

Halp! Here's what looks to be the additional gain stage at the beginning of the circuit- I can't tell what the electro or the resistors are, though... the B-C resistor looks to be 470K maybe? How bout those metal films - can anybody tell?

Here's a pic showing the battery, but I can't for the life of me figure out where the + side of the power is going after the on/off switch in the lower right (there's a blue wire leading from the switch, but it goes under the board - absent in the other pics... argh!) Plus, this 3PDT is wired in a way I've never seen before... seems similar to the AMZ diagram below, but on its side...
