weird Tele pickup question / seeking advice

Could do! I have a Mustang with custom wiring that allows all six possible two-pickup combinations. In series and out of phase sounds surprisingly good into a Fuzz Face. How well each wiring works will depend a lot on the voicing, position, and relative impedance of the pickups. It might be worthwhile to try a bunch of options with alligator clips before committing to something.

If I was just keeping the 3-way switch, what do I do with the yellow? connect it with the other "cold" connections?

Nah. You obviously need a free-way switch for maximum option parallels

It's at least simpler than adding phase switches and series parallel. And you can make the change with one flick instead of 2-3.

It's only six possible combinations. Stock is boring. Also the case should be grounded, so you'd just connect it with the cold wire.

This thing actually sounds like a Tele is supposed to now.
