Why am I blowing out LEDs?

I have an assortment of shrink tubes. I use the thinnest on the anode.

What am I doing wrong? Replaced the LED 3 times tonight. The last time it was the footswitch. Before that was one of the pots. It seems to happen 2 out of three builds for me.

Maybe you are overheating the componentes when soldering them?

Still need to grab those photos, been a week.

That said, "working from home" yesterday, I added some heat shrink tubing to and it works fine.

I think I wasn't giving it enough room when soldering it in and when I tightened everything down, was shorting itself.

So working on it a bit more, i wasn't leaving enough space and when I was tightening down everything flexed and caused a short.

Some heat shrink has helped the last 2 builds.

Use a multimeter in continuity mode to check for unwanted shorts when tightening different components. I don't know if it's useful?
