Wire management

Can anyone share their method to manage wires for turret or pseudo-turret and Other DIY builds that have wires coming out to the off board parts all over the place? I’m trying to have a clean, aesthetically pleasing method without the wires becoming a rats nest under the pcb. I’ve attached an example. It’s fully functional, but I can’t help think there is a cleaner way to route them. Thoughts?

Solid core for clean lines that stay in place, classic zipties, some slick board mounted wire clips? I’m on the lookout for some old cool zebra telephone wire to weave up a wiring loom with one long-ass wire sewing them all up like an old switchboard or organ on my next unwieldy tagboard build

Like @mckillacuddy mentioned, solid core. I’m not a huge fan myself of normal insulated solid core. To be able to see breaks I’d rather use tinned bus wire, combined with clear teflon tubing when insulation is needed. Milspec Tefzel, tinned stranded, wire holds its shape pretty well too.

Fuck zip ties though, since you are embracing older tech how about old school wire lacing with waxed cord where it makes sense.

Vintage Hiwatts are a great source of inspiration:

You can see and example of wire lacing with the transformer wires coming through the grommet in the upper left.

What you have is looking good already, with the wires coming from the bottom of the turrets etc. For the 90 degree angle stuff I’d get some thicker bus wire and if needed a solid/stiff insulated solution as well.
