Yet another LDR placement question

I'm getting ready to place the LDR/LED in my General Tso build and want to make sure I do it correctly. My plan is to the LED touching the LDR, and then cover it a tube of shrink wrap like this:

I'm thinking of mounting it like this :

Should I heat the shrink wrap tight, or just tight enough to block the light out?

Would closing up the case be dark enough?

Closing up the case is probably dark enough. You also may not need to have the LED touch the LDR, but you should experiment with that. LDRs have tolerances so every one will be slightly different. Good luck!

I've had decent luck putting the two inside a soda straw and shrink wrap. Give you a bit of leeway to tweak the spacing and then seal it up.
