What do I do with this?

They way I see it you've got 4 options:

-Sell it
-Use it as is if working or make it workable
-Turn it into another pedal. Expression pedal, wah, volume pedal, etc. come to mind here
-Nothing

Have you fired it up to see if it works?

So these belonged to my wife's granda eho passed away last year and they found these while going through some of his stuff in storage. The 808 and dm2 are in good nick and sound great but the fuzz wah has some issues.

A- It runs off 110v mains and I'm in England which runs on 240v
B - I don't really want to buy a stepup transformer to let me use it
C - It's clearly been messed with for some reason and is definitely not working
D - it definitely smells like the 70s

So what do I do with it? Answers on a postcard folks

Some guts

Fix it, put it in the closet for a decade or two then sell it. Or gut that fish and use the housing for something crazy.... but that’s just me.... I have a problem with going a little to far with.... well just about everything.

Or you could make a Phuzzer and put a big muff and a xc phaser use the pedal to control the phaser

I could keep going with stupid ideas.

I hadn't thought about controlling anything other than a wah tbh with a boost inboard but you're totally right I could use it to control other parameters on different effects.

Any parameter controls by a pot... hell any resistor you can get a pot in that range.....see what I was saying about taking things too far.

Could i turn it into a cool expression pedal for my hx stomp? And a different fuzz maybe? It would need a seperate output for the fuzz to the input of the stomp but there's tons of room for that.

I’d say fix it up. It’s a great learning opportunity to have a go at repairing it.
You know I've been having a look at it tonight and think I might have a go at this. If I fail I can always gut it later.

I've been looking at the schematic and specs I found online and realised it needs mains power for the internal transformer which supplies 28v to the bulb for the ldr. I don't see why I couldn't replace the bulb with an led and run the whole pedal off my normal power supply. Everything else apart from that bulb is just normal pedal voltages as far as I can see.

Here's the schem I found online for a slightly later revision. It's all I can find so far.

+ for Gut it.
Stuff the Dead End FX Larry, clone of the Mutron Flanger, in it.

Why not try a a 240v to 24v AC Adapter.
I changed my B K Butler Tube Drivers to external power adapters that were 110v Ac to 12v Ac internal.
I used the standard lumberg style 1/2'' threaded nut Power Jack!
They actually run Quieter as the Transformer is not interfering with the internal components!!!

If you decide to apply current to that, I would do so outdoors (unless you are in a wildfire zone).

I'm going to go over it in detail and take a load of pics before posting a new thread in troubleshooting next week. I'm definitely not going to use the internal transformer. I'd like to use an led instead of the bulb so I can run it off 9 volts. I also need to check it against the schematics I've found. So far I've found three different versions. Someone's had a go messing with it at some point probably at least 20 years ago. I've known my wifes grandad for that length of time and he's always been an acoustic or a 335 straight into an amp guy.
