    Duocast questions

@twebb6778 I get it, so if I test out without SW2 wired at all, I should be fine, right? If I understand the schematic right, then without the switch there's no connections for the high gain elements.

    Duocast questions

I've tested the height w/a pot in place and height should not be a problem. I am using a substitute transformer, and maybe it is smaller than the one that is recommended. Maybe that was a mistake, but folks here and at DIYSB seemed to think it will work. We will see! One vote for SHO after. Any...

    Always on boost/low drive pedal

This may not be the most exciting answer, but try the Joyo AC Tone pedal. You can get it used for less than $30. It's a sansamp clone of some sort (liverpool?) and it is designed to simulate an AC30. I don't know if it does that, but it does pretty much what you described. It's great for...

    Duocast questions

Hi, I am ready to add the pots to my Duocast PCB but I have some questions before I get started. Most important question--I'd like to test out the circuit before I wire the switches. That simplifies troubleshooting when something inevitably goes wrong. The problem is that I can't figure out...

    Rusty Box

@PedalPCB Looks like schematics for the Rusty Box are out there (in addition to the actual TS50b preamp). Here's the vero layout, but a PCB would be so much more elegant, no? https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/03/tronographic-rusty-box.html

    Conqueror supreme quick transformer question.

@Ratimus I'm not familiar with discrete inductors. Are they cheaper than a wah inductor? Where did you get them and why are there 5 of them on the board?

Son of Ben: Shorting when pots are tightened

It's working and sounds great, thanks everyone for your help! Gotta say, it is impressive how this pedal sounds considering the simplicity of the circuit!

Son of Ben: Shorting when pots are tightened

OK, @PedalPCB I think your explanation has to be right. I'll install a new LED, put heat shrink on the legs and have the legs poke out of a strip of electrical tape that will serve to cover the bottom of the bezel. That should be enough, right?

Son of Ben: Shorting when pots are tightened

Well I took out the LED Bezel, boxed it again, and it looks like it works fine even with the pots very tight. I am not sure the bezel was the problem, because I also replaced the electrical tape under the dg pot with paper and I re-soldered the pots. But I am thinking that the bezel is the most...

Son of Ben: Shorting when pots are tightened

@PedalPCB Thanks for taking a look! You might see in the photo that I had put electrical tape under the dual gang pot, but that didn't prevent the problem. Also, looking at the schematic, I am not sure how shorting any of the pads under the dual gang would cause continuity between the + 9v and...

Son of Ben: Shorting when pots are tightened

It looks like this is the case at least for the top of the PCB. But I need to unbox to check the bottom side. Shot of the PCB top is at the following link: https://ucdavis.box.com/s/8at4bqz402yjfm6bfpj7lhuxj86cyx3u

Son of Ben: Shorting when pots are tightened

I feel very stupid right now posting this, but I think it's time to get an outside perspective. I built the Son of Ben and it sounds spectacular. The problem is, when I boxed it and tightened up the nuts on the pots (not ridiculously tight, just a bit more than hand tightening) the sound and...
