    Silismile transistors

Now I know, thank you! It's an enjoyable learning process, I have to say. I would like to mark this as solved, but can't find the option for some reason.

After reflowing and will clean it again.

    Silismile transistors

These are both before reflowing the joints.

    Silismile transistors

I knew if I asked you guys you would get me in the right direction. Problem solved and now it sounds like it should! Now I can experiment with transistors properly. I reflowed all of the joints and at least one looked suspect (C2 negative), then cleaned the board with alcohol. Also on the off...

    Silismile transistors

I took it out of the enclosure last night to reflow the joints, which I'll do today. And check the sockets too. I am pretty sure the connection is sound, but def worth checking. I'll try to post photos later today, thanks everyone.

    Silismile transistors

Great thank you! Will that add more volume as well as distortion? Maybe I said it wrong. It is too clean, not enough fuzz.

    Silismile transistors

Hello everyone, I built a Silismile and socketed the transistors. I tried multiple combinations of 2n5088s, 2n3904s, 2n2222, and others with a max hfe on Q2 of about 350. Nothing seems to bring the gain up to what sounds right to me. It's not bad but a little underwhelming. My question: is...

    🤣 that's hilarious! Thanks again!

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

I want to thank everyone too and music6000 for your expertise and help. My lack of experience building pedals has just been stepped up a notch by learning from dumb mistakes of my own. Feel free to let me have it, I deserve it! It was the IC, or a short I caused when I soldered it. I don't...

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

Awesome thanks! Been struggling whenever I replace anything. Sounds like a great method.

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

All checks out good, in other words no continuity between different colors. Question, could this IC internally cause this hard to find "short" or whatever if it were malfunctioning? I ordered more sockets and IC's so I can do it right. As I mentioned, I soldered it in (n)😞.

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

I will try this tomorrow, thanks. To answer your question from earlier that I overlooked, yes R12 is going to ground.

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

I agree, Robert said that early on and you've been pointing there too. Pin 3 seemed to change right after I replaced R11, not a bad resistor but something must be wrong in that area (caused by me). Could be a short even though reading continuity? I'll poke around a bit more, then I may just...

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

Continuity checked out good. Here are the voltages for the TL072: Pin 1: 8.59 volts Pin 2: 8.54 volts Pin 3: 6.89 volts Pin 4: 0 Pin 5: 7.58 volts Pin 6: 7.57 volts Pin 7: 7.34 volts Pin 8: 9.10 volts Pin 3 is higher since my first post interestingly.

SOLVED Blue Breaker no bias voltage

Since the first fire up, to the time I posted here, no components replaced outside of the volume pot you noticed. I broke a few wires after coming here for help though. Today I replaced R11/R12, C9 and C10. Point taken 🙏. Same problem. On to the test!! Thanks
