This Week on the Breadboard: BJFe Arctic White Fuzz

@Chuck D. Bones with the unconventional way that this pedal is biased, does there exist a sure fire resistor that would allow us to give it an external bias control? Like a sputter effect? Would lowering the voltage on the JFET be the best place to do this? My version 1 has a trimmer to set it...

This Week on the Breadboard: BJFe Arctic White Fuzz

After reading this entire thread, I'll be going into this one blind. Your impressions are very promising! Thanks for the time you spent on this @Chuck D. Bones

How much copper is safe in a PCB faceplate?

    Yes, they are, good point!

How much copper is safe in a PCB faceplate?

That’s the thing though, I don’t know that the pots are actually making connection to the enclosure, the holes are tight, but not that tight

Did you notice any noise issues with them?

Help me make a Drill Template for my own PCB

What I do is simply bring the blank fold lines into KiCAD as a footprint, then made drill holes for different sizes as footprints (I have a footprint called 7mm Pot Drill), with the marker design drawn in KiCAD. All of these drawings go into some kind of aux layer like User.4 Place these...

How much copper is safe in a PCB faceplate?

I have some faceplates I laid out in the mail and I’m getting in my head about a couple of things. I left the through holes for the pots plated, (figured it was durable), and used a copper pour on the top of the faceplate (manufacturer has previously left clamp marks on my faceplates without...

    Passive ABY

Yeah for sure, I'm just wondering about the Y part in the ABY, the conjunction in this sentence "ABY box that allows you to run your signal to two different amps either individually or in conjunction" It's something I'm keen on trying but need to know more about it

    Passive ABY

Hmmm I've been led to believe that these at least need buffers on each output as well as the ability to flip the phase on one of them. This looks great, but can someone tell me why this is different to, say, using a Y splitter cable? (which you absolutely should never do to run two amps).

DEMO Fuzz Hysteria - Aion FX Polaris [Human Gear Animato]

Hey man, here's a question for ya "The twangy drivey bit is his Animato, and then he kicks in his Big Muff for the big driving chorus." Do you mean to say that he has a Big Muff and Animato stacked (both on) for the chorus, or does he swap between? Also, any idea what his Big Muff of choice is?

Troubleshooting a Superheterodyne Receiver. What symptoms would I expect to hear if I didn't use the right type 2 on/on/on DPDT switch?

Here's the way I'm seeing it on a Type 2 switch But course, this explains why middle position and lower position is the same, because they make the same connection... But if I used a Type 1, this is what middle position would look like SO that answers the question, I shouldn't have...

In the position that doesn't work, all the connections expected have continuity though, the middle row isn't in play. You' be hearing the issues in the middle position only surely

Troubleshooting a Superheterodyne Receiver. What symptoms would I expect to hear if I didn't use the right type 2 on/on/on DPDT switch?

Ah I just realised that Type 1 and Type 2 share the same bottom position, so that can’t be the problem. I’ll keep looking

Troubleshooting a Superheterodyne Receiver. What symptoms would I expect to hear if I didn't use the right type 2 on/on/on DPDT switch?

Oh, that’s probably something I’m just learning, you don’t flip switch footprints the way you’d flip potentiometer footprints?

Good point, just tested and confirmed that it’s a Type 2 switch. So @Robert did you not flip your footprints for that switch? Are your 1 2 3 pads down the left side on your PCBs?
