So, the one with the 1N4148's should have a higher clipping threshold and distort LESS that the ones with the 5817's. Yet is has more distortion. Might there be some resistor that has a different value than the other units that is causing this one particular pedal to have more gain?
I am aware of the interior trimmer, and clipping from the diodes in the Thermionic distortion and have built several of them, as well as the Dirty Sanchez and the Brown Betty.
Questions:
1) One of my Thermionics has considerably more gain that the others the only thing I can see that is...
"Down" as written on the foot switch PCB is relative here. Can anyone confirm if this would be the correct way to attach the small foot switch pcb? or is this up side down. (*Note I realize if the picture show my is oriented wrong I will obviously have to move the switch itself to the other side)
Am I doing something wrong, or is the older Dirty sanchezs PCB marked with the LED the wrong way? Anyone else have this issue. I have been very frustrated trying to get any of the DS pcb's to light up thier LEDs.
I am not seeing a parts list or schematic on Pedalpcb.com I am not sure what toggle to use for the dark, stock, bright switch.? on-on-on, or an on-off- on?
Is this toggle just selecting various size caps to allow high frequencies to pass uncompressed?
