That's one of my "Gold" builds. All of my builds (except my very first few) come with "feat. The Rev." on the front. It's a crazy build with over-spec bits, twin HPF, extra power filters/power snubbers, and a Jensen DI. Totally over the top but fun to make :)
I haven’t built one but what you’re experiencing doesn’t sound right.
Your soldering looks good but has your input jack, ground solder flowed properly?
Also, might be worth swapping tubes to check that’s not the issue
It was quite the challenge! To make a through hole kit, there would be some compromises (as always). It might take two boards. An extra board mounted on both of the footswitches [power supply board?] and the main board mounted on 8 pots (2 rows: Gain, Vol, Bass, Treb.) It would be a tight fit...
Welcome to PedalPCB and glad to hear you're enjoying the PA! Mine is almost always on.
I have lots of pedals I've used after my PA with no problems. It is relatively easy to set the PA to unity by lowering the volume as you increase the gain. I usually set my PA to give a slight overall boost...
Hmm… reverse mounted the Tube daughter boards to lift them up to fit the IE… which is why they had to glue the LED’s in with seperate wiring… ugly as it is… this took some serious effort 🤪 and - if it ever worked - some creative thinking.
I’m worried that I’m starting to admire their spunk in...
Oh… that should not have been sold with a clear conscience. But I think I can see what they were attempting.
I agree… they have modded the pedal to put in a IE style DI transformer. I reckon the only way to mount it was with glue so whoever it was probably used the spare to fix all that loose...
Hey Alex,
I got the iron on to do some soldering... but then I need to ask a few questions before I make that less-populated board for you.
This PCB board is normally installed using two purpose made screw holes with the HPF switch and the 3 pots directly soldered onto the board.
If you don't...
Hey #Slugsmoreslugs,
Welcome to the forum!
I'd love to see your soldering around the treble pot. I'm wondering if you have created a solder bridge across some of the pot pins.
I’ve made quite a few and 553mA is the lowest value I can quickly find. The tubes I use have a slightly higher current requirement (5814A’s).
When cold the current starts very briefly at near 600mA before dropping quickly down to around 565mA and then slowly drops a further 10-20mA over the next...
