This is the third one I've built. Fantastic project and great sounding circuit. IMO, enclosures are the real challenge. My journey continues in the enclosure front. Every build is a learning experience.

Ideally the gain LED would stay on when the circuit is bypassed. But for now that would just be icing on the cake. First thing will be to get the two different resistors working and see how the arrangement works. It may be a complete wreck, in which case the rest is moot.
