Fuzzy fox transistor sub

Lookiing at the fuzzy fox and the 2n3565. Looks like mouser still has some though they are kind of pricey. However looks like a 3904 is listed as an ewuivalent. Anyone tried one? Does it effect the octave at all?

Not cheap but cheaper than Mouser.

The previous version (and a few other fOXX clones) used 2N5088, just pay attention to the pinout.
