Capybara (8bitar/byoc lil mouse)

So, first thing, I forgot to get a gut shot but there's not much to look at inside. It's just a Parasit 8-bitar and a BYOC Lil mouse boxed together in that order. The only mod is the clipping switch, I'm pretty sure I learned about this mod from an old post by @Feral Feline so thanks for that! 😺

This is another gift build that my mother commissioned for a piano student who also plays guitar. The young woman is graduating and is having to quit lessons since her parents are no longer willing to pay now that she's 18. Nothing says happy birthday and congratulations on completing high school like "you are considered a burden, get a job." 🤬

Anyway, the last few times I did this I chose the Dirt Dauber. I wanted to make it more versatile this time and I wasn't given a lot of time to order parts so I had to just use what was on hand. I figured the 8bitar is a similar simple glitchy suboctave and the rat is one of the most widely beloved most versatile dirt boxes ever so even if she doesn't love the 8bitar, the likelihood that she'll at least like and use the rat is good.

I was told that she loves purple, of course I only had a 125b purple powder coat enclosure so I had to go with this iridescent metallic acrylic i had laying around. I love the texture and color but it made the stamping pretty difficult. I ended up switching to free hand lettering and it just got worse and worse. I wish I could go back in time and stick to the rubber stamps. At least the capybara stamp came out alright. No time for a second attempt so I put the paint pen down before it got worse and employed radical acceptance.

Looks great and the knob choice with colour of enclosure and ink is on point!

Great name for the pedal, too; I was going to name my ELS Nezumi (1981InventionsDRV) "Capybara", but might instead go with JimiLee's SuperRat (gifted from DGWVI to me).

I'm sure the recipient of your gift will be well-chuffed and kudos to you for picking up the slack from the parental units.
