I wasn't planning to build one of these as I'm among those who suffer from "Scott Derangement Syndrome" but I have a buddy who might've otherwise ordered a "NÔTABŮMBLẸ" so I had to intervene. He already had a zendrive and the redundancy would've bummed me out. I only needed to order the jfet and one pot to get it done and I was ordering a capsize anyway (spoiler alert: the capsize rules).
The usual tip of the hat to Robert for another good'n. With the bias target printed on the board I didn't even download the docs until I wanted to see what the labels were, which I ignored in the end.
No surprises that it doesn't do a lot to the signal in general and what it does do, I don't really appreciate on any instrument besides guitar. It does add a little sparkly je ne sais quoi to my tele that sounds pretty good and can give some boost so it's not entirely useless. I didn't do extensive bass testing, just through my headphone rig. It didn't seem to suck out the lows or anything but if I saw a bass player using a notachumblewumble on stage i would be pretty judgemental.
