Skylight Overdrive Change to Dual Gang 20k

I just built one of these but the board I had used a single gang pot for the texture control. The current pic of the board shows a dual gang. I checked the schem but it hasn't been updated yet. What was the change for?

The preview is (very) old. The single gang pot version is the newest and current version.

Functionally there is no difference between the two, the dual-gang pot just wasn't necessary.

If you could speculate, is there a reason the original manufacturer went for a dual gang pot over the single gang? Both circuits connect to ground so it's not like there would be any backfeeding?

In the overlay picture for the PCB listing, it shows a B20k pot. Is that correct for this? I ask because I read about using a 5k pot here. I didn't have a 5k on hand when I built the pedal so I tried a 10k pot and it had an adverse effect on the EQ response of the pedal, so it seems like it's creating an RC filter along with C8. I'm guessing that the B20k value should be ignored?
