Well looky here at what I made this evening with some sweet and massive mojo parts kindly gifted to me by @jwin615 that he acquired from a defunct police radio repair shop. Lots of crazy things like an N-D MOS (???), capacitors rolled in paper, and transistors I've never heard of. And very interesting capacitors featured right here.
Yup, it's a very functional breadboard of the Boneyard Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive in preparation to assemble Point to Point! A very rich and versatile overdrive with large range of tones.
I used a 4393 for Q1, a 5330 (no prefix?) NPN transistor with hfe of 39.8 in q2, and an mps2369 with hfe of 49.6 in Q3. I also tried a 5330 with hfe of 46.6, and metal can (no prefix) 6868 with hfe of 56.5, in Q3, but nah. Q3 seems to be tonemakker, and it likes the mps2369.
I'll fiddle with some of the values as suggested by Chuck, but it sounds pretty great as is.
