Another bandwagon build. I wanted to try this thing out for myself.

It’s kinda fun, and I can think of scenarios where I would use it, but it’s not really my style. Another one for the tone library. Acquiring the parts was a quest. It didn’t bother me as I was in no rush.

I think my favorite aspect of this build is the powder coat. It’s Tayda’s Metallic Black. I’m not sure I’d call it black. It’s a lot like Apple’s Space Gray, and it’s very nice IRL.

I didn't "get" the Broadcast until a friend who uses one described it as a complicated treble booster. And used like that I love it! I have also found that I can't hear any difference in my use if a use the transformer or not, so I haven't bothered with a transformer in subsequent builds. I also really like the 2N4403 silicon transistor Hudson uses in the Ariel Posen version more than the Ge transistor in the original.

I think yours looks very, very cool.

I was thinking about reporting back here. I have played it more and am finding that I either like it very clean or full bore. That’s interesting though, treble booster is a good way to think about it.

I built a duocast and felt the same thing - it was okay but not my thing. I used a GT402 for the Ge transistor. It sold pretty quickly on reverb though

Te friend who described it as a treble boost also uses it as a fuzz in his band which plays a lot of Beatles songs.
