PedalPCB Copper Clad “Golden Fleece”

My first attempt at this pedal was my first built in about 8 years and I soldered the pot onto the wrong side of the board. I burned the trace trying to de-solder it. However the second build went flawlessly. Very easy build and a great sounding one knob fuzz! I’m a fan of Electra variants and this is no exception. For the germanium I believe I used a Russian D9K maybe. Has red and white bands. Faceplate courtesy of a good friend. Yea I stole the look but who cares it isn’t going anywhere. Let’s be honest the circuit was stolen anyways lol. I give the project 5 stars and recommend it to any new comer looking for an easy, hassle free fuzz. Also, the fuzz stacks well.

Certainly looks lie D9K based upon the color code references I have seen. Russian Diodes translated at D9 Diodes

I am obsessed with this circuit. I built a 1590A version of it from the spec and then I threw it on a breadboard, swapped in a 2N222A at 200hfe and just started messing with C1,2,3. I think I like 33nf at C1 because it preserves the pickup reactivity and sensitivity to attack but at C2 I like 100nf and C3 the voicing with 22 or 100uf on either side of the stock 47uf are great. The Electra is such a fun distortion lab.

I agree there’s been some great circuits made just by modding the old Electra.
