I think you can technically use most other transistors. I think they are just for input and output buffers so even like a 2N5088 would work. Except the pinouts are quite different so would have to bend the legs.

FWIW AionFX does an SD-1 with bunch of options it's worth checking out if you really dig the SD-1 sound. Won't fit in an 1590B. But that one is tuned for 2N5088's.

When they do not sell out in a few hours it surprises me. Maybe folks do not dig yellow? They started with about 80 125b enclosures and there are still 8 left as of 1:00pm central.

I almost always order at least one from every powder drop and usually love yellow boxes. Not sure why but I just wasn't feeling that one so I skipped it. Maybe nightshade kicked too much ass last month, they had to follow it up with something toned down a bit.

Thanks! No worries. I probably need to branch out because I’ve been building too. Many PPCB boards. Also, right now I’m looking at a ppcb soul VENDOR project and like what transistor is that? Now I gotta go search the world for a transistor.

Yes, I need the box to be light and usually smooth. Just for labeling purposes. So that one looked like it fit the bill for me.

Don't go looking for NKTs. You'll pay way too much if you can even find them, or get fakes(that you paid too much for).
Find a handful that meet the beta and leakage requirements and breadboard it. Save a set or 2 for down the road after someone steals/buys yours. As usual with classic fuzzes, pedalbuilder has a nice write up with good info links as well

Don't go looking for NKTs. You'll pay way too much if you can even find them, or get fakes(that you paid too much for).
