    Muffin Fuzz (Green Russian)

Do it! Build all the variants! I'm not sure what it is about Big Muffs that are so addictive. I find myself wanting to keep building more variants too. The color is great. I like it more than I thought I would. I just wish I could find mini versions of the knobs they used on the originals.

Is this the variant sometimes referred to as Creamy Dreamer?

Throwback Build 2004 Tonepad Tube Screamer

Thanks! I still have a bunch laying around that I'll get to at some point. There not as easy to work with as the boards like PPCB makes but they still sound great.

Throwback Build 2004 Tonepad Tube Screamer

Back in the early 2000s I was getting into boutique builders like Zvex and Barber. I was also taking an interest in guys like Robert Keeley and Analogman and how they were modding pedals to make them sound better. Researching pedal modding on the internet of the mid aughts led me to a guy named...

AionFX BSIAB2 (Brown Sound In a Box 2)

I really enjoy Aion FX projects. Those projects are second to PPCB in builds I've made. They are always well researched with great documentation. I also like that they include practical substitutions. Especially with transistors. The daughter board thing is a drawback for me. I don't mind it in...

    What's on the workbench?

The first time I got into building pedals was back in 2004/5. I was buying boards from Tonepad and they are etched with the trace on one side of the board. I feel like on those boards it was much easier to get cold joints or accidentally bridge two pads. The boards like PPCB makes are much...

PCBGM Cherry Fuzz (Frantone Peach Fuzz)

Who's got time for graphics and labels... I gotta build my 10th variation of a Klon clone!

PCBGM Cherry Fuzz (Frantone Peach Fuzz)

I think it's mostly the red enclosures. I have a ton of the 125B red ones too and the coatings are terrible. But the last time I checked... the tone is in the fingers!

PCBGM Cherry Fuzz (Frantone Peach Fuzz)

If it changes your mind, right now they are only $3 with the 20% off sale at SBE this weekend! I almost bought more but I still have about 12 I haven't used yet. With as many builds that I do I don't mind them. If I really like the circuit I'll rehouse it in something nicer or more likely build...

PCBGM Cherry Fuzz (Frantone Peach Fuzz)

Here is one I wish that Pedal PCB would release. I love the Cream Pie Fuzz but the Peach Fuzz is a better and more usable fuzz pedal. It has lots of volume and good mid range content making it more live band friendly than other muff type fuzzes. Back in the early 00's I played in a band with...

MBP AquaBaby with Modulation Board (Boss DM-2)

Thanks for the link on the 3101. I’ve been looking for a reliable source. I have the AB Deluxe on the bench half done. A vintage DMM is my favorite pedal. (The reissues, regardless of chip, just aren’t the same to me). My second favorite pedal is a DM-2 with the MN3005 chip. Later ones have a...

    Muffin Fuzz (Green Russian)

I would probably recommend it. I've mostly built Ram's Head, Triangle and Mayo variants. A muff is a muff but I think the Green Russian has a slightly different character.

    Muffin Fuzz (Green Russian)

I've probably built more Big Muff clones than any other pedal. This is the first time I've done a Green Russian and I'm asking myself why I haven't done one before! It's still a Muff but with a touch more grit than other models.
