    PT-2399 Quality Question

Looks like that deal I saw is no longer there. It was something like 20 pieces for $7 or $8. Must have sold out.

    PT-2399 Quality Question

I’m about to order some PT-2399 chips and noticed that they cost about $0.35 on Amazon and about $2.40 each on StompBox. Are all PT-2399 created equal or are there quality differences between different price points? I imagine they sound exactly the same but may not last as long. (Similar to...

    Ceramic Capacitor Differences

For ceramic capacitors, what are some of the differences between these two types and are they interchangeable? Differences in sound? Quality? (Not wondering about the pF or nF values, I realize the ones in the photos are different values. I’m building my cap stock and wondering which I should...

    Kliche Mini - Tone Knob

I tried this mod today and it’s perfect. Thank you. I like the 2n2.

    Kliche Mini - Tone Knob

I had posted a similar question back in April but didn’t get a response. I’ll try to rephrase it in case the issue was in my wording. I want to modify the Kliche Mini so that the tone knob adjusts a different frequency. (I’d like more of a high-frequency sparkle and less of a mid-high sound...

    Sandspur Fuzz - Volume Loss

Ok, thanks. Just a follow-up. I’ve purchased new “solder lug” pots on stompbox. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with those.

    Sandspur Fuzz - Volume Loss

What I’m trying to accomplish is bringing those internet controls to the outside. Explain to me why this is not a good idea. I know it has level, fuzz, and sundial on the outside. I’m assuming you are saying that the sundial is the bias where it’s min and max are controlled by the internal range...

    Sandspur Fuzz - Volume Loss

I’m using them as a modification to board mounted trim pots for the bias.

    Sandspur Fuzz - Volume Loss

I’ve been doing that, and they work initially but by the time I solder, heat shrink, and install them, they break. I read through the reviews and was reading that they break easy. They can’t take much heat at all according to one review. When I test a broken one, I get the OL reading until...

    Sandspur Fuzz - Volume Loss

I narrowed it down to a potentiometer. Is it possible I got some bad pots? I ordered these from Amazon. At first I thought it was my soldering, but I’ve soldered them three different ways and the result is always that they end up broken. I can get them to work if I put a little pressure on them...

    Sandspur Fuzz - Volume Loss

I’m working on a Sandspur Fuzz build and my bypassed signal works fine. The engaged circuit signal was working fine for about 5 minutes and then all on its own the volume dropped significantly. What are some common reasons this would happen?

Kliche mini - treble knob frequency

For the Kliche Mini, how would I go about changing the frequency boosted by the treble knob. For example, if instead of lifting from the mid-high range, is there a capacitor value I could swap out to make the boosted frequency higher?

Painting Stompboxes - When to Apply Clear Coat

The more I look at this JHS pedal, the more I start to think they clear coated it before screen printing the graphics on. I don’t know how they do it but I like the quality.

Painting Stompboxes - When to Apply Clear Coat

I’m not planning to do a super thick clear coat layer. Something like what JHS does. Shiny but not too thick.

Painting Stompboxes - When to Apply Clear Coat

Feels like a catch 22 in that if I drill first, I get metal scraps in the not-fully-cured paint job. If I drill last, it could crack the clear coat (if the layer is thick enough). I’ve not done this before so maybe I can drill first and can clean the scraps off successfully.

Painting Stompboxes - When to Apply Clear Coat

Which order is best?: Primer > Paint > Graphics (screen print) > Clear Coat > Drill Or… Primer > Paint > Graphics (screen print) > Drill > Clear Coat
