All the FV-1 boards sold out

My personal experience with SMD, is as suggested, narrow tips, but with a Flux pen, and a hot air reworks station, it makes life way easier to solder these types of things. I usually tin the pads properly first, then clam the chip to the board, lined up properly, and crank the hot air station...

    finding FV-1 chip?

This makes me glad I pulled the trigger on the VCR / VHS or whatever it's called, and the Hydra before the shortage came "full circle". These chip shortages, and delays are insane. Fun fact, my car went UP in price from the day I bought it (January this year)... so did my wife's, which we...

What jacks to use for dual effects loop switch?

Funny part is, I actually READ this information, and still screwed up.. needless to say, this PCB exits in a 1590XX enclosure, Why? Because bigger DOES matter, not because I messed up or anything........ lol

Items similar to BOSS Tube AMP Expander

Good info here, I appreciate the response! I think for me, while obviously a little less expensive would be great, ultimately the thrill of creating it myself would be worth it alone. I kind of figured it might not be a cost savings venture, although I wished maybe a little.. lol But the...

Items similar to BOSS Tube AMP Expander

I was sitting here, thinking of ALL the things I would love to build, and that is a LOT of things.. lol And it hit me... What about something similar to the BOSS Waza Craft Tube AMP Expander? Or just a LOAD Box (REACTIVE LOAD) in general? Something with an OHM load, that allows me to DI into...

DOD Milk Box Compressor - Vote if you would purchase PCB

Am I missing something, or is my phone not showing anything? All I'm seeing is a single IC listed there. It wouldn't be the first time it didn't load everything for me lol

DOD Milk Box Compressor - Vote if you would purchase PCB

@PedalPCB , I am going to pull the trigger on this today, but was wondering if I could get the BOM (I didn't see it elsewhere, apologies if listed and I am blind as hell! lol) I wanted to be sure I did or didn't need to order from Tayda using 2 day DHL so I could build it quickly (read in weeks...

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

Just an update for information. I was talking with several members here last night, and went ahead and tried some 2n5485's (@Chuck D. Bones , sorry, I thought they were 2n5458's, I transposed the numbers slightly lol) in this circuit just to see if I could get the voltages to cooperate. The...

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

Just an update. I pulled the board out of the pedal, and tried to test the Q3, and got the same reading I was getting with it IN the board. It comes back as "2 diodes" instead of what the others were reading. Is this potentially the issue?

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

here is what my tester reads.. I don't have a DCa75 (yet) but I have one of those ATMEGA328 / TC1 testers. The results are just a couple tested from the batch, and the final 3 results are the ones IN the pedal: id=0.19ma @vg=134mV 0.18ma @vg = 126mV 0.22ma @ vg = 151mV 0.23 @...

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

If my hunch is correct, and I got fakes from Amazon (shocking, right? :-D ) I will probably order the SMD versions and just carefully solder them on instead of the stuff on there now. I do intend to put it through it's paces though to see the tones / sounds I get "as is" , because so far, at low...

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

So I combed through my purchases, and apparently I only bought my 2n5457's from Amazon, not Tayda. I purchased them almost 2 years ago ish it seems, and this is what was listed as the specs (didn't verify it at the time, as I had no clue what I was doing) Part NO.:2N5457 Package:TO-92-3...

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

I think Tayda, but it could have been mixed in with a batch I got from Amazon (which was quite some time ago). Is there any tests I could perform to verify their legitimacy? They are stamped properly, but we all know that could be easily cloned. I have a TC1 tester and of course my DMM's

BIAS issue, not sure what to do

Good morning fellow enthusiasts! I have an issue with setting the BIAS on my newly built Mofeta pedal. So here goes...... First, I have built other pedals with BIAS settings ( i.e. Blue Shoe Gai Pan) without any issues. I used the same "model" trimmer pots as suggested, the 3362p's from Tayda...

Capacitor questions - JRB "Blue" Series

I have a question for you experienced parts sourcers ( "sourcerors"? lol Yes, I know the proper spelling :) ) I tend to stick with the Nichion FG (Fine Gold) series or Panasonic CAPS , the ones "suggested" for Audio applications. I know that for the most part that is kind of hoopla, and not...

    Mofeta Pedal Sweet Spots?

Thanks for this, I was just now building / finishing my Mofeta build, and was about to ask this question as well. I assumed if would be the 4.5v'ish range, but was curious about the half supply voltage , as that is how I did my Blue Shoe Gai Pan (which I later changed anyway, and followed...

    Such a Kliché...... :-)

I wouldn't mind maybe posting a different thread (or even use this one) and maybe all of us posting out favorite 1n34a GE diodes and the variants, and what we test them at? I have a TON of different options in that area of components. I am thinking complete with pictures and what we test? :-) I...

    Such a Kliché...... :-)

More great info, I appreciate the time to post this information! As far as using my Klon builds, I always run my gain at around 2:00 or 3:00, to make sure I am getting that DIODE sound pumping. Personally, and I know everyone is different, I have never had a desire to run it low gain / clean...

    Such a Kliché...... :-)

Thanks for the reply! I apologize, I should have mentioned I was being sarcastic about the "magical and mysterious" 1n34a's Bill used. My personal feeling on that was he tried to secure the fact that his was the only way to produce that sound, but I firmly believe it's easily reproduced with...
