Yup, it sucks being in Europe (even more being outside the EU). FWIW, the postage costs are mainly around ensuring that you get the package safely and it's tracked/insured. As a supplier, you don't want to use the cheap option and have to resend or chase up delivery because it's the budget...

In general, I find that JFET based drives stack well with opamp based ones. But that's my subjective opinion.

I verified my layout yesterday with a higher gain 2N1309 and OA9 diode. Sounded pretty good. I may try a few different components but am happy with what's coming out already!

It's a bit of a crap shoot, even with legit transistors. Some pedals may be built using one manufacturer with a cluster around certain values within the range of the spec, where-as another manufacturer may have values clustered around the other end of the spec range. SMD is better in this...

I go for 125B because I want to standardise and there are builds which don’t fit in a 1590B. Apart from some low parts builds, 1590B is always a squeeze. I just like the spacious 125B interior.
