What to do with my spin FV-1

Really?! I had no idea that was the case. I was thinking the limitation was the control set up.

What to do with my spin FV-1

That is the case, however there are exceptions where it is not true. Some Fv1 programs are designed to run on specific circuits that may have additional controls (like the eqd rainbow machine). The standard for FV1 is three control parameters for the effect plus a blend control and volume, so as...

What to do with my spin FV-1

Yeah, plus if you socket the eprom you can also switch it out to try other effects. There are a ton of different effects you can get for it. It is digital, but it can sound very good. It can also sound incredibly bad and digital. All come down to the platform and whoever programmed the effect...

    Acrylic paint pens and Envirotex

Interesting, I hope mine don't turn amber. Though I doubt they will. I think I finished the earliest ones 4-5 years ago. I also did just a couple really light coats.

    Acrylic paint pens and Envirotex

I’m not sure I understand the baking step. I’d check the pen’s manufacture instructions and see what they say for curing time. Baking paint is going to dry it too much, or possibly burn it, either of which will cause color change. Just be patient and let it dry the correct way. I suspect a day...

Splinters in my toes (but not ants in my eyes...)

Unfortunately a Moogerfooger clone would never fit in a 125b. I’ve worked on a couple MF 102s (probably the simplest one as far as parts count) and even if it was all smd I don’t think it would even be close

Actually Clear / Transparent Inkjet Vinyl Sticker Paper

I used to print mirrored images onto transparency paper. The spray the ink side with white spray paint, and glue it to the enclosure. Most of the time for good measure I would add a few coats of clear lacquer on top. Looks very nice when done correctly.

    Favorite DIY circuit

I don't count the Pitch Pirate as a DIY thing, but that is kind of splitting hairs. Doug over at Mid-Fi is a pretty creative dude, his stuff is really good and from what I can see it doesn't really look like he just clones other stuff. I have built a couple of his circuits and every time I do it...

    Favorite DIY circuit

Another noteworthy one is the 1776 Multiplex. Sounds fantastic but I think it’s been a while since they have been in stock.

    Favorite DIY circuit

The RunOffGroove stuff is all very good. I'm a big fan of the Tri-Vibe but there is a lot of other great stuff there as well.

    Planning a RAT...

Couldn't remember, I know I don't like the germanium sound in there. Not terrible, just not very Rat.

    Planning a RAT...

It's really all about the diodes. I have owned a couple Rats, my old bandmate had a Turbo Rat, and I've built a few as well. The diodes make a much bigger difference than using the modern op-amp vs a lm308. If I were going to build one again I'd do the standard clipping diodes and red LEDs on a...

Madbean Total Recall Enclosure size recommendations?

There are several threads on the madbean forum that would suggest a 1590BB will not work, but I haven’t tried myself. I think tayda just started carrying those. I suspect if you wait they will get polished ones at some point.

    This should work too https://lovemyswitches.com/1590bbs-enclosure-bare-aluminum/

Madbean Total Recall Enclosure size recommendations?

Doesn’t tayda sell them now? The 125bb (two b’s not one) is pretty much the same thing too, so I bet it would fit in there too. It just a mm or two smaller I think.

    Boss DS-1

I gutted mine and put a Rat into it a few years back. Not saying the DS1 is a lost cause, but I’ve never liked it much.

    Wall of Shame: pedal abominations

Uh, I think you might have missed a couple parts in there, that bird is 3/4 empty. ;)

    Wall of Shame: pedal abominations

As promised for your viewing pleasure. I swore I would never open this box (held together by tape because I lost the screws) again and well… I didn’t have to. As you can see my sloppy construction is on display for all to see in glorious blue transparent plastic. This is a Devi Ever Hyperion...

    Wall of Shame: pedal abominations

If they are loud I see nothing to be ashamed of ;) I think we've all seen gunshots of, sometimes pretty expensive, pedals that are no better. So keeping with the spirit of the thread I'll share mine once I can snap a pic of it.

“All in Good Fun” be damned

I wouldn’t be intimidated, just know that they aren’t that fun to build. Everything is too cramped, but it’s all doable, and once it’s done they’re really good. Worth it in the long run, but the building ain’t the fun part.
