    HELP! PCB Layout Guidance

Check out the videos the dude from effectslayouts.blogspot.com recently did on the topic. And I think the JMK pedals guy made some very good ones several years back to. I started building on vero, so the whole this grouped cleanly with that so it looks nice doesn’t really phase me. Keeping...

    Thoughts on Tayda IC's?

Agree here as well. Used a lot of ICs from them and gotten some other places like smallbear to compare. I couldn’t hear a noticeable difference between a 4558 fro Tayda and one from smallbear. They used to have great, cheap 2399’s but started getting noisy ones a couple years back so I have...

perfboard aka through hole VERUSUS! printed circuit boards

I do not know for sure but I assume the answer is no. I suppose perf offers some flexibility where if you discovered one trace being in a particular spot caused an issue then you could adjust and rebuild. But if you were using the same layout then I don't see a reason that perf would be better...

    Blue box or build?

I really like the u235 as well, it has a really deep, full sound. I was getting some bassy Deep Purple/keyboard type sounds out of it. Lots of fun. Great for single notes, less so for chords. I made a Bitbreaker Deluxe from Parasit and it is crazy fun. Roll back the tone pot, play around the...

    Runoffgroove Tri-Vibe

ROG is great. I’ve built four or five things from there and they all sound really good. Chorus/vibrato has never been something I have wanted but I like the tri-vibe. I don’t want to say it’s more subtle than most modulation pedals, but I like the way the modulation blends with the guitar.

How to Build Your First Guitar Pedal Part Five THE ARTWORK!

Excellent. Really enjoyed watching the process. BTW if you haven’t seen the movie the beast is from (Wizards) it’s worth watching just for the Rotoscope stuff. It’s a fascinating effect

    Tim vs Timmy

Odd, I always thought the Timmy was just that without the boost. I made a Timmy several years back using a 4558 instead of a 4599 and have been pretty happy with it. Thanks for putting in the work and sharing the layout.

    about Microsynth

I think Brian over at madbean was doing a layout for the microsynth. I remember he posted a pic of a prototype a while back, not sure where it got to. Maybe check over there.

Cheese Monger compared to Aion Monolith

I’d say either way it’s worth trying out. I built one and it is easily one of the best sounding pedals I’ve built. I used the BC549C’s (which are a little more difficult to source these days) in mine and it just kills. A little tighter than a muff and a little less unwieldy than a Tonebender. It...

    Where the bass players at?

I’d love to see some bass stuff! Though it will be difficult to top watching Fernando plays bass on Instagram. When you say DI does that mean through a direct box, or literally plugged into a scarlet or something like that? I used to use a direct box live and sometimes for recording. I was...

    Blank

Built a GE FF several years ago that i didn’t like, took it to the owner of a good local shop that dealt in only vintage stuff. He plugged it in with a strat and just couldn’t stopped playing. Said it was a really good one. That is how I learned that I don’t like GE FF. Might be that it’s just...

    JCM-800 pedal

Nice! I’ve used a 3D printer for a decent amount of pedal related stuff but never made a knob I was very happy with. What kind of printer are you using?

Big Muff Pi permanent tone bypass

Kit Rae has the tone wicker muff schematic on his page too. Just a suggestion but you could do an internal trimmer turned all the way down instead, that way you’d still have the option if you ever want it down the road.

Using trimmers in place of pots

You could do it with a piece of perfboard or veroboard. It would be pretty straightforward to make one in eagle and get them made up
