The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

Good eye Chuck. It most definitely does work... I just forgot to put the capacitor on the schematic. Fixed it.

Thank you, I was totally unaware of that. Here it is fixed.

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

So, I created the thread because... my building skills suck. Before PedalPCB, I mostly used perf, my own layouts and things were always... messy. Things would work for a few months then start getting intermittent issues, often have noise problems, yet I was too stubborn to buy PCBs. Now I'm...

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

It's on bread board right now and think it sounds great. Of course, Rangemasters do not sound good on their own, so their 'sound' revolves how well they get along with your guitar and already distorting amp.

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

Let me walk through it. The Buffer, Transformer and 'Edge' control are all there to counteract the shrillness you get when putting a Rangemaster downstream from a buffer. - We're only using half of the Transformer, so it behaves as an Inductor to 'simulate' the response of guitar pickups. It's...

The Perfect Treble Boost - Help me build it!

Range Masters have been my thing lately and I've come up with what I think is the perfect Treble Boost circuit. It's a RoG Omega with an AMZ Pickup Simulator and a couple of cool tricks.

    What's on the workbench?

Breadboarding is simple. Understanding circuits is the hard part.

Could faulty 3PDT switch cause a short?

The 3PDT sold by Tayda have given me problems. Every few clicks they get stuck in an in-between position where neither throw is making contact. Could have been a bad batch.

    Favourite guitarists/why we build?

I'm one of those that struggles with this topic. While I see the value of picking a guitar virtuoso, learning their techniques, building a repetition in the genre, capturing their tone. As much as I want to be able to do that, I can't settle on any guitarist or genre. Very frustrating.

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

I'm also reading many reports that the Decay mod doesn't do much, and that the decay pot on the Mad Professor Snow White also doesn't do much.

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

It looks like I'm going down a path others have already paved. DIYSB - DOD FX-25 filter-type mod confirmed DIYSB - DOD FX25 - How does it work?

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

On a side note, can anyone determine if this is a Lowpass filter or Bandpass filter? To me it sounds like a LFP but on another forum someone described the topology as a Wein bridge oscillator, which would make it a BPF.

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

Second idea. Add a Bias pot There is another thread that discusses making the R20 trimpot into an external pot. That's not very exciting because all it could do would be to add distortion to the envelope detectors input by moving the bias point closer to either rail. Now if we could adjust the...

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

First idea. Add an Attack pot The Attack / Decay of the Envelope should be adjustable by changing the RC Time constant of R22 & C10. By adding an A10k pot in series with the 470 ohm resistor, we change the time constant from 29.4ms to 666ms. If we went all the way up to A50k, we could get a...

    CDXL Reissue Mod Ideas

Eyeballing this build. I've never owned an Envelope filter before and do not play funk, so I'd be looking to mod for greater subtlety. I'll use this thread to collect my ideas and get feedback from others.

Unicab - How do I remove the gain or put a switch to bypass gain?

No one should want a fixed level with this circuit, you're doing EQ work and you need an overall 'Level' adjustment. You're probably making the crucial mistake of running this before your distortion pedals rather than at the end of your signal chain -- it's a 'Speaker Simulator' after all...

Captain Bit for Bass - Blend?

Keep in mind that this effect has zero dynamics -- you input is squared and totally squashed by a headphone amplifier run at max gain. Then the paths split and the octave down part goes through what you'd describe to the layman as a clock counter. I'm not a Bass player, but balancing that flat...
